I don’t think they’ll remove access to Hera to Zeus, just to promote her. My assumption is, if we get a 4th Greek Major at all, it’ll be either Hestia or Demeter, with the other becoming a minor one.
I like this personally:)
Also would love a AoM Retold and Blood of Zeus” series cooperation where you can unlock god portraits inspired by the Blood of Zeus design. (really like the Hades, Kronos, Hestia, Demeter, Athena, Hermes and especially Hera design there)
“ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGING CURRENT GODS FROM, NOR TO MAJOR OR MINOR GOD” is my position. I think it’s both disrespectful to the original game, potentially confusing and a bad financial idea and I will go through these three points with further detail.
Disrespectful to the original game:
Many returning players play retold because it’s more convenient then the original and that there actually is more positive changes than negative ones, but count on every negative point to weigh AT LEAST TWICE as more as the positive points.
I know I sound like a bit of a grognard about this but I know people way more cranky about changes than me and they begrudgingly play with me and end up having fun, but always say “Oh wow! Walking back changes so it slightly more resembles the original was a better decicion? Who would have thought the original designers actually knew what they were doing” when patch notes reads (‘Paraphrasing here’); ‘reverted some extra damage on heavy+champion upgrade’, ‘moving fishing upgrades down an age’ and ‘Making the Egyptian spearman more of a generalist’. Just some examples that does indeed prove that the old coots had a point.
Confusing:
We already see this with Sobek (Hathor), it’s already confusing. The devs shouldn’t have done that, and it’s gonna be way worse if they would change a current minor as major. Someone would wan’t to mod back and just no, no and no.
Financial/Marketing point:
I have made this point previously in this thread, VERY FEW is going to feel excited to pay for a previous god as a 4th major God. Yippie, now I can play uuuh Hathor… Hera… Poseidon, but Atlantean… I don’t think that’s an easy sell, or at the very least, I wouldn’t buy that, no way.
We have plenty of better choises for 4th gods:
Greeks: Demeter or Hestia (the only remaining of the 12, uh 13? Olympians) maybe even Persephone (but I think she would make more sense as a minor god to Demeter, but that’s personal bias). But DON’T add Hera for all that is holy.
Egyptians: Amun, Khonshu or any of dozen gods I don’t know but would be happy knowing more about when they’re represented in AoM. But don’t confuse us and add Hathor (or Sobek).
Atlantean: Nyx, Pontus, Khaos plenty of good stuff to choose from. Earlier in this thread I expressed my views on having Poseidon as a forth god with another user which you can scroll up to see (nothing personal against Skadidesu, I just disagree with the position. Pleasant person, civil discussion, 10/10 would argue further with). But to summarise, no I don’t want Poseidon for Atlanteans.
Chinese: King Yan/Yanluo Wang (Underworld judge, can have Zhong Kui as Mythic Hero) or any other god than Huang Di which would again, cause confusion.
I don’t want Poseidon for Atlanteans either, but because I don’t think Atlanteans should exist to begin with. They’re a fake civilization with bad design (and with traits from civs that deserved a lot more to be playable), and with an extremely flimsy lore reason as to why all these Greek gods didn’t go to the pre-existing Greek civ. I don’t understand why people cut them so much slack.
Poseidon for Atlanteans should come for free, as it should have been in the base game.
Selling Poseidon as an Atlantean god now, as a DLC, would make me really angry.
A patch that makes the Atlanteans in Fall of the Trident actually Atlantean, but worshipping Poseidon, that’s what I’d want.
Not getting my hopes up. Microsoft won’t do this, even if we all as a community agreed it was the right thing to do. Also, I wouldn’t want Poseidon to be a “regular” Atlantean God, meaning I don’t want him in Skirmish. Just in the campaign, for lore consistency. Which is pooped as it stands.
As a proper 4th god for the Atlanteans, one I’d be willing to pay money for, I’d prefer Pontos, but I’d be fine with Khaos or Nyx or Typhon as well.
And yeah, the Atlanteans could have been made way better. They feel like an amalgamation of different ideas, with little effort put into blending them together into a coherent identity. Basically, Romans living in Inca buildings.
I like the idea, the concept, behind Atlantis and Atlanteans. The execution deserves an overhaul.
Totally. That’s why I like more the beta Hera portrait, because it kinda looks like her
