If you like Three Kingdoms Pls support it on Steam

I understand your reasoning, but I completely disagree. This is a clear short-sightedness and ignoration of precedents. I believe you are familiar with precedents, since they are part of almost every single thing in life, ranging from meaningless to international. Examples? There are decades old precedents used on daily basis in court cases. Or a bunch of powerful countries decided to break the international law and conjured up their own excuses (aka “reasons”) why they could do that, and other countries warned that this act makes up a precedent and others would use it. Now what? We have several deadly ongoing wars all around the globe, making up the same, or sometimes even more valid, excuses.

How does that touch Aoe? Battle of Greece was a precedent - I disliked it, you disliked it, but people liked this “experiment”…so they decided to give us another one, and this time with 3 kingdoms forced in multiplayer, beautiful! Now, if we take that, then they can follow up on this and add more ancient “non-civilisations” into ranked play. Then the 3 bans will be useless. And even now, you are the one calling it most democratic and most pragmatic, which is clearly false and simply your individual delusion, because instead of 3 proper bans (such as banning broken civilisations until a patch fixes them), a player will ban the 3k instead.

I understand, but that’s not the point. 3K break the spirit of the game alltogether. Khitanguts will be nerfed in a next balance patch, you can bet all your money on that. Less broken civs (Phosphoru rushing Bohemians) have been nerfed immediately as well. This is why the game rolls out patches on regular basis - to balance out the outliers.

Oh you are so wrong about that. It will do everything. The only reason battle of greece is so liked, is because it does not touch ranked play or tournaments. Battle of Greece also has trainable heroes (Polymarch) or TC upgrades and even mroe different navy.

I’d say moving them to their own game mode is better than just removing them from rank and pretending that they aren’t on the Skirmish select and unranked screens.

Otherwise I do think it’s unnecessary since all the 3K Civs would fit into the usual AoE2 theme just fine with some reworking and rewriting. It’s not optimal but I honestly don’t wanna wait too long for updates.

This DLC is the only thing they released since Mountain Royals as V&V was just repackaged assets and Chronicles was done by a completely different team. So this thing took them took around 2 years and would at least 1 more to fix in the way most people want.

Yeah I don’t agree that 3K fits the aoe2 civ roster, as I’ve been saying everywhere.

But for the second part, that could have been solved through better communication with players and fans. I praised their unique castle skins in a same thread I criticized 3K, as it didn’t seem like an issue that they lack resources. They could have spent less effort for the same, if not better, outcomes.

The problem is not resources in my opinion but rather them been slowed down due to corporate structure and getting all the relevant communication through multiple channels and what not.

It’s also worth nothing that Microsoft has laid off and closed down multiple Xbox studies including ones that worked on AAA games like some subdivisions of Bethesda/Zenimax, all to cut costs.

So the pressure and likely loss of resources from that is probably hitting them too.

He dislikes Bohemians because he thinks they’re the same as Germans (Teutons).
He also seems to think Dravidians and Javans are the same, but instead he uses that to justify the absolute joke that is the Thirisadai.

A lot of Chinese players have complained that the Chinese translation is not good.

It’s clearly a Mangudai.

Why are you guys even engaging in this “Gaia civilization” discussion? Just don’t respond to the troll, it’s not even an argument for anything relevant to the topic

You might as well be arguing about the Cobra Car

Using Gaia = “civilization” is the argument of kindergarten. It overlooks so many nuances and game design for favor of certain biases.

Guys it’s just a way to place entities like animals, berry bushes… It’s like how Command & Conquer just calls every factions a “House” because of their engine.

There is no intention to “define” Gaia civilization, but only for the ease of accessibility.

You guys thought way too hard and fell for the bait.

This topic is temporarily closed for at least 4 hours due to a large number of community flags.

Well, I reopened the thread due to the large number of flags, and I tried to clean it up a bit.
Please keep the discussion on good terms and avoid disrespect. I’ll monitor this thread periodically.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, this thread is to call for those who support the DLC to do their part so it can get a fair. It’s rather disappointing that those same people that like this DLC would rather get into playground scuffles like children than do something productive with their time and energy.

I encourage all discussions about the 3 Kingdoms DLC and what may ultimately change about it.

Despite different idea and I still have disagreed with your method, the last thing I truly wish for the community and 3K DLC as a whole is reaching the optimal compromise for both.

Though I say there is not much to do beside us (Who want change to the DLC) prefer to rock the boat with our respectful reviews and critics. I truly think the devs are sitting in a hard spot, and this game had direction of some higher up who absolutely have no idea what to do with it.

Personally, as someone who had consumed 3K media, I’m sad by the state of the campaign + factions for three kingdoms section. It could and should be better than 15 scenarios with 3 being one recycled for thrice. 3 civs do not capture all what three kingdoms media is.

AOE players be like:

AOE2 players: I will boycott this game and never buy another DLC again until you remove these civs from this DLC you gave us

AOE3 players: I will pay any amount of money on your next DLC if you’ll please pay attention to us again :sob:

Imagine being a fan of both (like me)

Man cant wait to play as the self proclaimed Central African Empire

Can relate:

  • Want to play traditional civs like Jurchens & Khitans? Oops, they are bundled up with 3 kingdoms, while having no campaigns, unique voicelines. Heck even one like Khitans is just two civs being merged into one.

  • Want to play Three Kingdoms? Oops, you have the campaigns of showing how much you read the book to understand the plot + characters cameo. It’s bland, rushed, and missing the charm of Three Kingdoms. Dong Zhuo is a funny background character, etc…

Saying it has no major flaws is probably the mid take someone would do.

And people who actually read the book and thus know the characters, know how silly the campaigns are—westernized theme park version of three kingdoms that does no justice either to the real history nor the novel

I meant being fan of both AoE2 and AoE3

I think 3K would have been a better fit for AoE1. That game is in dire need of some updates.

I’ll be real the campaigns feel like they were trying to rip-off dynasty warriors, especially because a lot of Hero characters look like how they do in Dynasty Warriors, the most immediate example is Lu Bu.
