People who don’t care the definition of civ will enjoy, no matter it is Ancient Greeks or is the United States.
They like the Three Kingdoms DLC purely because they just want as more playable civs in ranked games as possible.
If the devs could get the authorization, they should also have to enjoy even a DLC containing the Hyrule Kingdom, the Mushroom Kingdom and the Koopa kingdom —“The Nintendo Three Kingdoms.”
Not necessarily. In my joke post for July 4th a couple years ago, I laid out how an American civilization could potentially work if they were added (I don’t think they should be, but I approached the idea like any other civ concept of mine). They had a relatively normal unit roster, but had bonuses and buildings to incentivize quickly switching to gunpowder and sticking with it.
It’d still be interesting to imagine the bonuses, units and techs of the Hyrulians, Toads, and Koopas.
But sure, Microsoft IP. They can be the Terrans, Zerg, and Protoss. As Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, we can just have a AoE2 version of StarCraft.
TL,DR : they are a turbocharged 16th century HRE with the glorious feathered hats of the time and some very early steam technology (including some weird tanks) and an apparent addiction to gunpowder, still managing to be innovative despite facing legions from Hell every other year.
while you have fair arguements. It misses one big thing.
most people dont know the difference between something like 500ad vs 200 ad. The difference isnt all that big for combat. While the difference between usa and like one of the later civs like italians and spanish is the amount of change is huge. Also people generally know a lot more history from like the 1700s onwards.
Also 3k doesnt even overlap timewise with aoe1 while usa is firmly in the aoe3 timeline, and theres a reason at least i dont play aoe3.
Actually it does. The Three Kingdom DLC’s campaign is set from 190 - 208 CE.
The Yamato campaign stretches from 210 BCE - 740 CE
The Enemies of Rome campaign ends in 262 CE
The Imperium Romanum campaign ends in 373 CE. And hilariously the mission before last depicts the Crisis of the Third Century, which happens simultaneously with the Three Kingdoms period (which is weirdly after the Three Kingdoms DLC’s setting).
The Three Kingdoms period is firmly in AoE1 territory.
Both could be part of the same DLC.
It would be interesting to have a Middle Eastern civ with a Church for a Monastery.
Many Egyptians are still Christians to this day so it would be an interesting way to differentiate them from the Saracenes.
I wish they would make a new Empire Earth. The other “Forgotten Empires”.
It would be so cool to have the entire time span of AoE1, AoE2/4 and AoE3 in one game.
Just gotta figure out how to solve the problem of the Sumerian Industrial Age and the American Bronze Age.
I agree with you, but does it really matter? Is it really an argument against including them?
This game series has always had many anachronisms. AOE1 already features bronze age civs using trirremes and cavalry. In AOE2 you get Aztecs using trebuchets. We already have several gunpowder heavy civs.
I don’t want to have the USA as a civ, but to be honest, it isn’t as far-fetched as it may sound.
