Imo remaking the engine is not an option because it would totally change the feeling of the game making it not a remake of AoE2 but a totally new game.
I wasn’t aware it was impossible to replicate the feel in a newer engine. It would take time, sure, but it would have been no different from how they’ve butchered pathing anyway.
I knew it. They had beta pretty close to launch, and this was inevitable. Let’s hope they fix up this pretty fast. Play singleplayer like me i guess.
Any body else who can’t play the game? Mine crashes on loading screen in every game.

Welcome to the club, Lessond, You’re far from the only one.
Glad to hear I’m not the only one
Regarding MS representatives acknowledging, they are aware of everything at their twitter handle, check them out, ForgottonEmp and AgeOfEmpires. It is still shame though. Push the release date if product is not ready come on!
They’re working on it. I follow them in twitter.
Should of delayed the release like beta testers requested. You only get one chance to make a first impression.
Yeah, agreed. Beta too close to the release date was an obvious sign.
No word from the devs regarding crashes on loading screen?
Well it seems at least that ranked games are stable enough so I suppose that’s where I’ll go for my game from now on.
I don’t crash on run, but I get not the best FPS for my hardware (around 100) and the loading screens have lags.
And I have this:
Intel Core i7-7700HQ 2.8 GHz
16 GB DDR4
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti + 4GB GDDR5
It’s hugely improved, but the villagers are still stuck sometimes.
The funny part is, this game don’t even utilize the GPU. It’s all single core requirement.
I’ve played 4 games, 4v4 Nomad with all live players. No lag. Smooth as butter.
1080TI
i9 7920X
64GB DDR3 RAM
With those specs you should be able to play every game on the market.
The game runs fine on some machines but we are very much aware that its not the same for everyone. We are still working on more performance updates, hopefully it’s not long before everyone can play without issues!
Good to hear that you are aware that the game crashes for many people who should be able to play the game with decent PC’s. It’s really frustating to have bought something and not be able to play it, even though I have a pretty decent PC (12 GB ram, Geforce GTX 1060 6GB, i7 X 990 @ 3,5 Ghz)
I hope this is fixed ASAP! While I’m aware that this kind of game is hard to make perfect for everyone. It’s getting embarrassing and sending a bad image for a company to release two titles with SOOO many issues on release date.
I haven’t bought the game yet specifically for this reason.
There where major problems in the beta that they haven’t even addressed.
Did not expect them to be fixes one week later.
It’s their responsibility to make a good game, not mine to buy whatever they want to sell.
Ensemble Studios would of never let this product hit the market. Times sure have changed.
