I'm having Deja Vu from AOE: Definitive Edition

Agreed, I haven’t tried MP yet because of all these issues

I think calling the publisher greedy is taking it too far. We are not dealing with EA or Bethesda here.

Should they have delayed the game? In my opinion and without taking deadlines, budgets, events, etc into consideration, yes they should have delayed it a week or 2 and focussed further on the performance.

Is it a bad launch? No, that’s not it either. Yes, we have some crashes (just had one in the campaign…), yes online play is bugged, yes performance could be better for a lot of people, but the game is not delibitated to the point you cannot play it. You can play it. I myself genuinely enjoy playing the campaign. The graphics truly are awesome.

The thing however is, this is not a new game. Developers/publisher are trying to pursuate a playerbase who have expectations about a game that they actually have already been playing for years. I think they did misjudge the higher level of expectation.

(but Andy, you nasty hypocrit! you got 120+ FPS, how dare you to complain for others )

Still, DOOM 2016 was their very successful at launch work though

Agreed, though with UHD it gets annoying

I got 120 FPS with UHD on . In the campaign. I know I am an exception.

My god, i loved this game but they need a optimization, the game freeze all the time, and sometime i get 5-8 fps…and before some retard come here and to say something funny about my PC, this is my specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 1700
RAM 8,00GB
Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. B450 AORUS M (AM4)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (NVIDIA

so yeah, the optimization is just trash.

You are very lucky friend.

Everyone has the freedom to vote with their wallet. Personally I have not yet purchased the game and will likely not until after the performance and multiplayer issues are addressed. I don’t want to support the decision to release games like this one in its current state.

Regarding the original soundtrack for this game, I have been asking about it since the game was revealed at E3 2019 earlier this year. There was no info released from the community team about it until the day after it became available. When I saw someone had posted about it being available on Reddit November 14th it was an exciting moment for me, especially considering that it appeared unexpectedly. This doesn’t take anything away from how much I like Age of Empires II.

No one is laughing about releasing the game in its current state. The community team and devs were heads down leading up to release and they are still actively responding to address issues.

The game is playable, but you are doing the best thing.

It is strange, because in Beta I had like 30FPS. And even though I have 120FPS with UHD, the benchmark test absolutely craps on me. Maybe the campaigns are just less intensive.

I wonder how many of them have their monitors plugged into the integrated graphics and not their dedicated card. I made that mistake years ago. “Why am I not getting performance in Guild Wars… oh…”

One major problem for these games continues to be the lack of multiplayer games and the lobby. It looks empty and that’s a bad look. A global chat or something so people could connect with strangers would help somewhat. I wonder how they can get more people in to multiplayer.

My performance issues seem to be fixed. Not sure if it’s because of a patch or what. This is what I did but I know not everyone will be able to replicate ( windows I only use for gaming )

  1. Reinstalled windows
  2. Downloaded all drivers / updated using driver install software
  3. Downloaded AOE2DE and enhanced graphics pack.
  4. Tested on ranked benchmark. Noticed massive instant improvement. Game itself is running really smooth now compared to how it was couple of days ago . Not sure if that’s because of steps I took / a patch / if the game runs better with enhanced graphic pack or whatever

My computer still randomly quits the program or shuts down without the enhanced graphics even after the update.

Whats the player count?

I said that the part that says that the developers are just after a quick cash grab and that they’ve forgotten their fans isn’t constructive.

I checked like half an hour ago … 22,000 players playing on Steam alone.

Whats the most FPS anyone got? Mine caps like at 150 FPS max. Usually around 120 or so.

I have intel UHD 630 as well, never use it tho. I can benchmark it if anyone needs.

Asus TUF FX505GM ● 144hz LED IPS ● Windows 10 Pro ● Intel Core i7-8750H @2.20GHz ● GTX 1060 6GB ● 32GB DDR4 ● 500GB SSD + 1 TB HDD

What rig are you playing on?

Xeon X5675 - OC to 4.0Ghz
14GB DDR3 1800Mhz RAM (RAM is also OC’d)
GTX 1070
Asus ROG Rampage III Motherboard
Samsung evo 850 SSD

Basically a 2011 build with a more recent GPU.

I also have a second pc:
I5-6500 3.2ghz normal clock/3.6Ghz Turbo boost
8GB DDR4 2133 RAM (the ram itself is 2400Mhz, but the motherboard only allows for 2133 -.-)
GTX 1060
MSI H110 eco Motherboard
AOE2DE is installed on a ordinary HDD

This second pc is unable to run UHD, I suspect due less ram and the pagefile sitting on the HDD. However, if UHD is disabled on both PCs, the 2d PC runs the game a bit better than the first. I suspect that is due the faster ram.

Why not get SSD for that laptop? They’re quite cheap now and makes laptops so much faster.

Also how can your main rig have 14gb ram? that cant be dual/quad channel.

-It’s not a laptop. It’s a desktop PC. I have a SSD in it, but that is reserved for different things. I use a HDD for bulk storage.

-My main rig has indeed running that in single channel. It’s actually 2x3GB tripple channel plus 8GB single stick. That does unfortunaly come down to running all the ram in single channel. To be honest a small sacrifice for getting more ram, and since the rig is old I’m not going to invest in proper dual channel ram for it anymore. It is not worth it.
