It is a decent machine to be honest. I don’t think you can overclock the RAM in your bios, but checking will never hurt.
I like to avoid overclocking to allow my PC to last longer … as I am not sure I could afford to replace it.
If I do replace it I will replace it with a refurbished MSI GF62 8RC if it’s still available … as I saw one of them for £500. And it is an improvement over my current rig … except the ram is only 8GB. 8 GB is recommended, though, and it’s better than my current rig in every other way … and my friend is in-between my rig and that one … being slightly better than mine but she only has the 8GB and she has no problems running the game.
EDIT: Oh, there is a website called Technical City which I find incredbily useful for comparing rigs.
Most laptops are not going to show any sort of overclock option
Overclocking RAM is not something you should recommend. A bad CPU overclock CPUs will at worst cause a crash, a bad RAM overclock can corrupt data.
Overclocking RAM is not fun, takes a looooong time to dial in and takes even longer to validate
The PC I hope to get someday has these specs:
CPU: Latest 8th Gen. Intel® Core™ i5 processor-8300H
OS: Windows 10 Home
CHIPSET: Intel® HM370
MEMORY: DDR IV 8GB
DISPLAY: 15.6" FHD (1920*1080), wideview 94%NTSC color Anti-glare
GRAPHICS: GeForce® GTX 1050
GRAPHICS VRAM: 2GB GDDR5
STORAGE: 1TB (SATA) 7200rpm
WIRELESS LAN: Intel Wireless-AC 9462 (1*1 a/c)+ BT5
It depends. Yes, laptops in general don’t allow, but some high end laptops do (and this was a high end one back in that time).
I never had issues with OCing my RAM. Squeezed out 1800Mhz instead of 1600Mhz. I did however followed a guide specific to my CPU for it. There are guides out there saving you a lot of trouble.
It was also nothing more than a suggestion to check if the option is there. The point is mute the moment there is no option for it, which is likely in his or her case.
Correct, and I was thinking about going turbo
Any way to prevent this?
So, like, I would never be able to play UHD without more than 32 RAM?
I can run many new games with this hardware, come on. This is not Total War: Three Kingdoms.
They should optimize the game.
I’m sure my hardware will be able to run AOE3 DE with no problem. Most of the issues are because of the Genie engine not being able to handle this much info
Really? Because what about this statement isn’t constructive?
The fact that not a single developer from the team has gotten in front of a camera and recorded a video, reaching out to their loyal & dedicated community to discuss the performance issues and what is being done on their end is really what bothers me the most. Borderline cowardly.
If you were more transparent about your approach to handling these issues, and why its such a difficult problem to fix, I think people would be more understanding.
Eh no? Yes? I mean it does what needs to be done: a backup when your actual RAM is fully used. The only way you can prevent is by putting in more RAM. I guess you can disable this, but it would just debilitate performance even more. What you perhaps can do is replace the HDD with a SSD. Atleast that is faster.
I’m not saying that this will always be the case. I think it’s the reality now, but it is always possible they update it to a much better efficiency. Here is maybe a crazy thought for the developers: put the graphics card a little bit more to work! This is stuff that normally should be utilizing the GPU and VRAM.
It is Sonic the Movie all over again…
It’s called an effective form of communication. Try it out sometime.
Listen, if you guys are happy with your purchase, that’s great. But when myself and others take time to participate in a closed beta that requests for us to submit weekly feedback forms and ask for our input to improve a game we love, and the game developers decide not to listen to beta testers who repeatedly pleaded with them to not release the game, then constructive criticism is necessary.
Especially when I see an Instagram post from them saying, “The HIGHLY requested and awaited Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition remastered sound track is available RIGHT NOW!”. Purchase it today on your favorite music streaming platform!" …Really? Cause last time I checked the only thing that’s been highly requested was improved performance and gameplay, yet you’re pushing this narrative that fans care more about the soundtrack? Give me a break.
This was a rushed project to correspond with the timeline release of Age of Empires IV. If you cant comprehend that, then you don’t understand business. Will they fix all the problems we’ve been discussing? Most likely. But you only get one chance to make a first impression, and that chance is now gone due to corporate greed. It’s like I’m having deja vu with AOE 1 DE, all over again. It’s only a matter of time before the player base loses interest and moves onto the next thing.
Sadly, this most likely isn’t the developers fault, but the publisher who has a vested interest in the company.
While some of you guys are busy feeling sorry for them regarding my stern criticism, they are laughing all the way to the bank, while we sit like stool pigeons on a Saturday afternoon the first weekend after launch without more than 10 active games at any given time.
The game does have issues, but saying this is just… Let’s say Steam forums material
So you would call this launch a success? On what account exactly? Do you think it would have been a better launch if they had listened to the beta testers and delayed the release like they requested?
If so, then you’re agreeing with everything I have been saying since the initial post. But getting sensitive about this is just… Lets say Millennial material.
It broke HD’s peak player record. Though the launch is not completely successful
Every game will get better if delayed though.
Now, you are going off-topic. Saying that the developers are laughing at us is basically being disrespectful to them. If they did, none of the promised features would be present.
I just said this is not the developers fault, but the publisher who financed the game not even two posts ago.
Sadly, this most likely isn’t the developers fault, but the publisher who has a vested interest in the company.
So if you believe that every game gets better with a delay, then what would be the rush to push this game out other than to fit a financial timeline for the release of Age of Empires IV
Point is, the game could be released a bit later
But calling publishers greedy just doesn’t work on AOE2de
Before we take this conversation any further do you mind telling me how old you are? If you’re that naive to think that game publishers don’t put their financial profits & incentives first, then you’ve never sat in on a business meeting in your life.
The sole purpose of a publisher is to do exactly that, publish other peoples work that they have financially invested in for profit. The heart and sole lies with the developers. Hence why I said it bothers me that not a single one of them havent come forward to discuss the issues thats going on with the game and/or why they chose to release an unfinished product.
This could have all been avoided if they would have just listened to the beta testers.
Did I say they don’t? Where did I imply that?
For AOE2DE, MS have proved to show care for the fans. That’s the point.
This is pretty much what I seen everytime I refreshed last night. Good to see there’s not much point rushing back to play online if it’s still this way
