Iroquois - Early Alpha Stage

The nation is frankly unfinished, moreover, all modern balance changes are aimed only at weakening it. It looks very strange.

Okay, so he doesn’t shoot guns. But he doesn’t have any other tags. He’s not a foot archer or hand infantry. So this change just reduced the number of potential upgrades for this unit. Also, at the very beginning, the tomahawk’s ability to deal melee damage at a distance was taken away with no reason.
All that was changed to this nation in the last update was that they gave it two nerfs.

From these screenshots we can see that this nation also has no economy.

Early skirmisher has more hp, higher dps, move faster, costs less resources and produced more quickly. There is no reason to use a late skirmisher. This looks like a bug.

The Mantlet is way too expensive (160 res) for a unit that’s just there to eat bullets. It has no attack modifiers, no range, and no damage. It also creates a debuff on the entire army in terms of movement speed. Its only achievement over other siege units is that at age 4 it starts to cost not 2 pop but 1. This is truly unique, but it is still not capable of fighting on its own.

  • The Iroquois don’t have a unit tagged “hand infantry” at all. Very bad for team play.
  • Also for some reason you can’t use more than 10 healers in community plaza. So there is no reason to use cards that provide healers for the whole team. (this applies to all American natives)
  • The Iroquois can milk a single tree for as much wood as an entire forest. But they can’t do it faster than other nations. Also, unlike other natives, the Iroquois are the only nation with finite resources. Their main resource is wood (the card that increases wood production forcibly changes the cost of all non-siege units from gold to wood), and they don’t have factories, special ceremonies or extensive shipments (only 300 and 500 wood crates). When the map runs out of wood, they won’t be able to build soldiers.
  • The big buttons of the Lakota give permanent upgrades, the Aztecs give soldiers, and the Iroquois you pay some resources to get 1500 other resources. The design is extremely primitive. Simulation of trading on the market.
  • “War houses” card gives 10 dmg at range 12 for house. This is just ridiculous. The stationary turret has less damage than the peasant. And the range is terrible. Plus they only have 14 houses instead of 20. And cosmetic problems. The picture shows men with bows, but in reality the houses are shooting like an outpost. Another lazy design.
  • A very strange card that reduces the cost of war huts. The Iroquois build with wagons for free, they don’t need to reduce their cost. There’s also a card that allows soldiers to build barracks. Why the hell do you need that?
  • Some American natives have a “medicine” card that gives -15% to the construction time of the vills. They also have a regular medicine card. This is stupid and unnecessary. You need to leave only one team card that will give -15% to the time and cost.
  • The card that strengthens the warchief gives +10% to the health of buildings. What the hell do you need these 250 HP for when the chief is standing nearby. An absolutely useless upgrade.
  • Tomahawks go into an endless walking animation when changing battle formation.

This shit needs to be fixed. It seems to me now that the nation is made even worse than Malta. This is an early alpha of this nation with bugs and shortcomings. How is this possible if it exists since the WarChiefs.

The wood card which change their gold cost to wood is a trap, no matter how high the wood yields it gives, sooner or later you’ll find that for the rest of the match you will be much more starved for wood, despite tasking 40 villager on wood. It’s much easier to maintain resources with 30 villager on estate despite they lacked many estate gathering card.

The nerf FP receives throughout the years also made them down from one of the best skirmisher in legacy to something mediocre or below in the current state. It would be good if they change the tomahawk damage to melee type, just like their native variants, and also mantlets to get some deflection ability.

Not only do they not have estate cards, they do not have farm cards and wood harvesting cards as much as the Europeans. They don’t have an economy at all. Just to compare, their workers collect 1.1 food from farms, and the Ottomans 1.5. And this is their most extracted resource.

I wonder where their equivalent of a mango grove is. Or endless crates of wood like the Russians or Malta have.

I didn’t even know that it had been put down for years.

There are so many things in here that are just dumb takes.

Have you actually like every tried to sustain aenna production lategame?
haude only has 1 lategame food upgrade card and its a team card with lesser effect, so being able to keep up your eco to only pump this unit out is asking for trouble

Their lategame natural food rate (with no livestock) is lower then their natural wood rate

They also cant kite for shit so you are either hoping that the opponent is running away or they are pushing into a defended position where you dont have to move

have you ever played treaty?

If you think about it for a bit, you can be in a team of natives, each sending their team and get nearly the max allowed healers/WP/priestest in the plaza

About healers, Lakota and haude are different ones or they are the same unit, with the same limit? Both team cards can be sent?

Just rework the civ from the ground up imo. There’s nothing engaging, interesting or unique at all about playing as Haudenosaunee. The civ just lacks personality, the only thing remotely fun about them is the warchief’s falc shot. There is no way you can convince me that there’s people who will be strongly opposed to giving the civ a complete overhaul, because you’re basically playing a watered down euro civ with no arty.

Also true for Euro civs like french, german, brits, spanish, russian, Portuguese

Vous avez oublié de mentionner de façon exhaustive le hollandais et l’Ottoman aussi

It is because i think dutch and otto are unique and not that boring, but the ones I mentioned are boring

Mostly easy to play x)

yeah i have tried it, they have the same limit on the plaza iirc so only 10 in total can be used but i think build limit wise the wp and priestess dont share build limit

if you find there’s nothing interesting or unique about the civs you listed there’s a more realistic chance you just don’t find this game very interesting.

I agree, but I wouldn’t just apply it to this civilization, all Native American civilizations feel incomplete. I, in particular, feel the same way with the Incas.

There is something that calls my attention, throughout the entire journey of AOE3DE, the set of native civilizations are the ones that have had the most problems and for this reason I have some questions. Did the developers have previous experience with these civilizations?

We know that part of the team was part of the Napoleonic War MOD, how were the new and old civilizations balanced in that mod?

I would appreciate any information that can clarify my suspicions or dispel them.

It is actually kinda true but not 100%. I play mostly only non-euro civs, occasionally dutch or otto, i don’t want to touch other euro civs i really don’t have any interest in playing those

In your mind this game is all about euro civs, typical euro gamer

That is some suggestions I made in the past and it would make me like this civilization more.

there’s no easy way to tell you how hilariously you’ve mischaracterized hoop here
