Is there enough Europe civs?

Thank you for talking some sense to these people. The Wallachians/Romanians could do for so many great campaigns, not just Vlad Draculea.
To just name a few, Michael the Brave or Stephan the Great.

rename it to Zenata :stuck_out_tongue:

No, there are some that would not preorder a DLC based on where it is located. My point was precisely the opposite…

Yes we need that but also lets add 10 more civs to better represent HRE
Bavarians
Saxons
Swabians
Luxembourgers
Hessians
Holsteins
Lorraines
Styrians
Carinthians
Silesians

The timely addition of Burgundians and Bohemians shows that the devs are on track to add every single Holy Roman Empire duch… erhm I mean civilization!

You’re right but eventually even campaign DLCs could be a thing, especially since noone would feel forced to get them.

What route? Comparing relevance in the middle ages for a medieval game?

We should try to get a European civi with camels, cumans don’t feel very European.

We should make everyhting european… oh wait this game already does that with the Champions, Knights, Cavaliers, Hussars, Halbs and Crossbow/Arbalests of every single civilization!

I thought we could maybe start with something like the Seljuk Empire. This looks reasonably relevant.

Seljuk

Maybe look at their war with the Khwarazmian Empire? Or as fan service maybe their wars with puny Georgia?

We could do them as a Qiniq umbrella first, or even a Oghuz superumbrella, but we might have to split them later.

If you want to stay close to Europe, we could take another look at the crusades. But this time instead of a campaign about how all the Muslims worked together peacefully we could show some of the factions at work behind that singular facade? All the internal politics that allowed the invasion to succeed, essentially. And then top it off with some nice big sieges.

Then we could go to Africa, follow the camel-laden trade routes into the heart of the continent. The malians are the perfect entry point here, through timbuktu they had contact with everyone.

Then we can go back to South Asia. It’s an area pretty much as big and diverse as Europe, there are easily 20 more civs we can do there!

And don’t forget the camel civs on the Eurasian steppes! As the aoe2 team has shown us we shouldn’t just put them all under “Mongols” and call it a day. I’m sure that southern Kazachstan alone can give us multiple good candidates.

Yes, this post was made in ten minutes with a little googling for the first things I could find. I’m not enough of a historian for this job. But the world is a big place, especially when down at the relevance level of some of the European suggestions.

All I need is more camels.

Yep we need a European knight riding a camel to top it off.

A crusader state or vandals would also fit with the camel + euro civi.the mighty camel shooting onager should definitely be added.

Somalians should totally be next by the way.

Only 13 out of all 42 civs have camel riders, while most of the world population lives in countries with camels*.

Yes, this is going to be my official new pet project now. More camels.

*I think. Missing Southeast Asia hurts, but as China and India have about 1/5th each this looks like it’d be over half.

Byzantines have camels tho

In other threads, many people were against adding Seljuks and for adding Gokturks instead…
I personally would prefer Seljuks.

I think the problem with adding Seljuks is that it would lead to Turks representing only the Ottomans and Im not a big fan of that. For now I think its better to group all the western Turks under Turks and we add Gokturks or something like that first

I’d LOVE to have new European civs, but only after four ir five more DLC’s set outside Europe. Also, I don’t think we need every duchy of the HRGE or Italian city as its own civ

Why not?

Ottomans are a branch of Seljuks so they should be one civi.
