Hakkapelit which is a Finnish light cavalry with an iconic look evolved into Swedish royal guard with the most generic look ever of a 18th century cavalry.
Carolean as the name suggests is limited to a short time period but they upgrade into a Napoleonic look.
Not to mention rangers and green jackets. In fact the earliest model of the ranger is a green jacket.

These units are unrelated either. Unit progression or even “age” reflection in the game do not reflect actual progression in history.

BTW organ guns and cassadors are units from the same “age” so this game has been “best of 16-19th century hodgepodge” from the very beginning.

Hakkapelit don’t become the swedish royal guard WTH?! Their model never become that of a the swedish royal guard…
Rangers start with the 93th rifle regiment model and then end with the napoleonic one, but guess what, they remain the sme regiment…
So yeah, the hakkapelit doesn’t become swedish royal guard since no relation, while the rangers are just the same unit in different age

Organ guns are from the start of the timeline of the game, and cassadores are at the end…

Quite a few mistakes I’d say:
The upgraded hakkapelit in the game is called “drabant” which is the name for Swedish royal guard. As for the model most 18th century cavalry in real life are like that including guard cavalry regiments.
“Rangers” are mostly colonial irregulars in North America before the revolution. 95th rifle is created as a regular regiment in Britain in 1800s.

In a game that covers such a large time span it’s difficult to place units that are too early or too late in the time period, and you also need to balance their roles and strength. That’s why you need to get to the “industrial age” to get a most medieval looking mercenary knight.

I think da vincie tank can be produced bij factory only and cards

You know that the wiki isn’t always right?
And in that case it isn’t right, since royal sweish guard isn’t the drabants… Although they too had a role of bodyguard…
Regarding the rangers the first units were created in america, after the seven year war with the french and the indians there, rogers rangers were one of such units… Then later they got put all into the rifle regiment, which is exactly what we have… In fact the ranger model is that of a rogers’ rangers…

No mistakes btw, this are the swedish royal guard:

These are the drabants:

They mixed and had for sometime the same role, but they weren’t the same thing… And drabants aren’t the royal swedish guard

I hope the tank and plague doctor are just for something like a scenario.

The dismounted knight could possibly be a Condottiero.

I don’t know which part of the wiki you’re talking about. Does hakkapelit not evolve into drabants or drabants is not a royal guard?

Okay Swedish drabant is not THE EXACT unit called “Swedish Royal Guard” (capitalized), but it is Swedish, it is royal, and it is a guard. Alright?
And it still had no relation with hakkapelit.

In any case hakkapelit has nothing to do with that cavalry model with a tricorne. This unit almost became obsolete before that era.

The age 2 ranger model has a “95” on the hat and the uniform is a very Napoleonic one. Rangers in North America are dressed much more casually, which should be similar to the skirmisher model in the game.

And I found no source that the 95 Rifle was created from colonial rangers…this unit was directly raised in Britain and had no direct lineage with any colonial unit.

Regarding the rangers i was referring to this:

The two green ones are rogers’ rangers

And compare it with the in-game unit:

The design of the shoulder belt, the pants, and the ”95” on the hat cannot be anything pre-Napoleon.
And Roger’s rangers remain a colonial unit. The unit was dissolved. The legacy was inherited by later colonial units. It did not evolve into 95th rifles.

Wearing the Rogers Rangers skin in the game “Assassin’s Creed Rogue” made me feel like a veritable bad ■■■.

Ok, so, lets try to get all the stuff together…
Rangers remain the same regiment, but you say that they change because they are called rangers like the units that were formed during the seven years war in america, right?

I made a mistake on this earlier. Yes the “ranger” unit (in the game) is not colonial rangers evolving into 95 rifles. It has always been 95 rifles but mistakenly called rangers.

My main point is not whether some unit evolved or should evolve into another in the game, but that the game is quite casual on this. Most of the time they just look for fancier looks for unit upgrades. If it follows time progression then okay, but that’s not a strict rule.

I made a mistake earlier too.

Regarding the evolution of models i slightly disagree on the fact that it is casual, sometime it might be very distant, but there is at least a minumum of relation… And regarding the model becoming fancier i would say that Beraglieri would have all the drip necessary to not switch to redshirts, or the inverse…

I’m not disagree on these. I just think the possibility still remains.
As for the “fancier look” thing, most aoe games are wittedly set in a time span where most units actually become fancier through time. But they are still exceptions. Let’s say if the elmeti or some armoured lancer whatever is called becomes a regular cavalry for the Italians. Would it lose armour as it upgrades (which follows real history)? I guess not…

Did you notice this outlaw ? It’s new isn’t it? (I play too few outlaws to be sure  )

Could be a called a ‘Footpad’ with a mounted variant called ‘Highwayman’

That looks like an highwayman on foot to me, and the stance seems that of the pistolero outlaw
