It's Mexico

So? The backlash was just some very noisy people. Overall the dlc was successful. I don’t see this as a reason to not support the game.

For me, the new civilizations are always welcome when they are well designed and diverse ! Brazil would be a nice next coice. It could mix african, native american and european units and technologies. Italy, Persia and Grand Colômbia are other interesting future civs as well. Good job devs!

I’m sure the devs have the sale numbers, but from going off the steamchart data more people played after the USA release than the African release.

Don’t forget the French “adventure” in Mexico. Pity France doesn’t have French Foreign Legion card/s, hey?

I don’t think so… It simply means that it’s the most unique among the ones present in the game…

How do you measure if the DLC was successful? I didn’t saw an big increase of player numbers…

I mean, it might be just noisy people, but usually those are whistle blowers. I’m not saying that there aren’t people who will complain about anything that they’ll release, but we can’t either ignore them.

I mean, I made a lot of pools regarding the most wanted civ in the future, some even included Mexico, but it was very low on votes.

That doesn’t mean that they can’t add or sell Mexico, but at least look at what the people didn’t liked in the US, and try to make it better…

Anyway, I’ll probably buy it, because I want to support the game, but that’s is the last stretch, and onestly my biggest fear is that after another backlash all the focus will be switched to aoe4, since it’s the most prominent and profitable game at the moment.

Well, they could have done 1 more historical battle featuring Mexicans vs French too.
“3 per DLC” is not bad if they are going this way… but for Mexicans, 4 would cover “enough” situations to present the civ.

I imagine them going with a dlc pack with 2 civs again (hope for Asia, fingers crossed) and then once again with this one with “30 or 50 states event”

I don’t know how many states, provinces or departments Gran Colombia have but Brazil or Argentina give them a reason to another event themed this way.

Africans released during the Age 4 closed beta. And they were so unbalanced that a lot of people waited for that to be fixed. On top of that, USA was free if you played the challenges. Those numbers are completely skewed.

I know exactly how you feel: I’m disappointed in a lot of things about this game, but I keep buying dlcs as I want to continue supporting this game I still really like in the hope that the developers will update the old civilizations, not just add new ones . Don’t get me wrong, as I’ve said here on the forum before, I like new civilizations, but I’d love to see at least some new cards for old civilizations, especially European ones. But my hope won’t last forever.

I like what they’ve been doing with Aztecs. The new cards are interesting, though not all extremely useful, and also open up new possibilities.
I hope this could be done to other older civs, including those who are “fine at the current state” and do not need major balancing adjustments. Giving those civs a few more unique cards that do not interfere with their current balancing state, could make them more interesting to play with.

Microsoft has a large market in Mexico. In fact, the best-selling console in Mexico is the XBOX (I have heard that). It makes sense because being neighbors the tariffs and all kinds of taxes associated with transportation are much lower.

SoakedHalo4138 DoctBaghi I was also a bit disappointed, but the mechanics that they are implementing to make sense of it are very well achieved. For example, the United States begins with emigrants and Mexico still begins as Spain (by definition). So you feel an evolution and own identity.

Do not be discouraged! The game is getting better. I, too, am still waiting for another African civilization.

I’m not bothered about the US states age up, or about other historical things like the Mexico revolutions.

But there are other things that are onestly nonsense, like the flag mechanic, or the lasso ability, or the double pistol unit.

What’s wrong with that . Are you complaining from Accuracy PoV or from Balance PoV ?

A compelling argument for civs like USA and Mexico is that they should be relatively cheap to make because they will reuse a lot of assets from the European civs. My personal civ I want to see is Persia but I recognise they would need a lot of new assets. They would need new architecture, a whole new set of units and voice acting.

Its worth considering next time you feel like a certain civ has stolen or wasted a new civ slot as not all civs are created equal.

For those interested, @InformedMarrow9 is in stream, showing the Mexican civilization, in Spanish.

Looks like Widgie and Lion Hart have the Mexican civ as well and maybe esoc

My sentiments exactly.

I’m not disappointed because it’s Mexico per se; as a country in aoe3. I’m disappointed because it came out of nowhere just like USA. Personally, I was expecting Morocco or Italy. I guess my dissatisfaction stems from that. Oh well, they added Mexico because of their interactions with USA.
I’ve seen the trailer and some gameplay vids. The mechanics are weird but at least they are interesting. That’s fine.

I’m not sure if I should buy it or not.
I want to support the game, but I don’t know if devs will misunderstand that as the community accepting anything despite the quality.
I bought USA thinking the same, so I’ll probably buy Mexico at some point.

The decision needs to be quickly unfortunately… for these things usually they use the number of copies sold pre-release and early post-release, as an indicator of how good a product was.

I think I’ll buy it… and then see… if they continue this way that with few to none anticipation they announce just 1 controversial civ at the time without any piece of information for the future, then I’ll probably give up…

Yeah exactly, I mean at least they could implement a better communication…
