It's Mexico

Such a non-constructive comment… complaining because they “only release 1 civ every few months”. You clearly have not been playing for the past few years…

2 years ago people would have DIED to get ANY new civ… people are getting fussy now that people are working on the game lol

Thanks a lot to the devs! Can’t wait for the new civ!

I’m a long time AOE3 fan, and I have to applaud because of all people complaining, you are the first constructive comment that I read.

I agree with a lot of what you say, they could push a lot more civs on the same “concepts” and I would be very happy. They don’t have to make it all that unique and fancy like they’re doing now.

That being said, I’m beyond happy that we’re getting any kind of release or support for AOE3. Will definitely buy Mexico!

It’s another skip for me unfortunately.

At least now changing the name of the eras makes sense due to this time frame

Actually they semi address this in the trailer when they mention that Mexico fought against many colonial powers of their time; highlighting their historical significance to the game

cant wait for someone to make Alamo scenarios in AOE 3 DE

It’s not just the Mexican empire…it would be all the Mexico of the nineteenth century, from the war of independence to the establishment of the Porfiriato (1810-1876)…

They added Mexico, due to wanting to please the Mexican fans of Microsoft, for something we had in its day Halo 2 in Latin Spanish, and not to mention Forza Horizon 5 set in Mexico and this serves Microsoft to promote the gamepass there…

It is to commemorate the bicentennial of Mexico, although they should have launched it in September…

No, I complained for a different thing. Having a long wait between each civs anc then finding a civ that isn’t just controversial (that could be easily overcomed) but that has a big nonsense component it’s frustrating.

The “one civ every few months” it’s just something that exacerbate the frustration.

I mean, if there would be just about half of the Mexican civ, removing the “nonsense part” (like the lasso unit, or the flag mechanic, just 2 examples on the top of my head), then I wouldn’t complain that much.

I mean, it would still be far from my preferred choices, but at least it would have made sense.

Then there is the delusion for again not having introduced a really new civ, but having opted to introduce a civ that it’s somehow already in the game… but that’s another thing.

I’m frankly a bit undecided…

On one hand, I’m disappointed from the civ, both on the choice and the design…

On the other hand, I really want to keep supporting the game, and buying all the DLCs, and 5 euros isn’t that expensive…

I really don’t know what to do, I felt like that if I buy it, like with the US DLC the devs won’t see all the negative feedback, but if I don’t pretty soon the devs won’t support the game anymore.

On the other side, a new civ is a new civ, even if not designed well, and add game diversity even if you just fight it… I could use someone new to beat with sweden or etiopia…

I am Turk and I want to see and play other civs. Mexico is interesting and exotic civ. I am so glad that devs choosed this civ. And I want to see Brezilya and Persia at the game then game will be complete. :slightly_smiling_face:

honestly i think this has more to do with the american player base and perhaps also an attempt to recapture what they gained when they released the US DLC.

without certainty i doubt the latin American playerbase combined numbers even 10%

Buying it is the way to go. USA didn’t really have that huge of an impact as people complained.

Game wise no… but the backlash on the release was actually pretty big…

A lot of people here on the forum weren’t happy with it, and were actually more excited about the 2 African civs.

I mean, those were new civs, in a new contest, the US instead were already in the game in one way or the other, like Mexico.

Onestly, I think that I’ll buy if I see plans for new DLCs more like the african one, with really new civs, or that I least know that they’ll keep supporting the game with new content.

If that is the case, I’m happy to support them, with constructive criticism of course, but if Mexico is the last civ as they hinted i think that I can live without it…

eh they haven’t hinted its the last civ?

if anything the wording almost suggest we have more to come:

Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition launched in 2020 and has been innovating on the classic RTS gameplay ever since. Now the Mexico civilization joins the game as the most strategically diverse civilization yet in the newest DLC for Age III: DE , releasing on December 1 and available for pre-order now!

most strategically diverse civ yet

which would indicate they are wanting to add more factions.

Thinking about this more, I am starting to think the the next civ after this will probably be morroco or an african civ.

Since there seems to be 2 age up concept that the devs are building civs around : Federalism and Alliances

and we have gone
US (federal)

Hausa and Ethiopia (Alliance)

and now Mexico (Federal)

so the next one if it holds maybe another Alliance one

Or they’ll stop at 2 each, and go back and add one more European and one more native American civ. Or they’ll do something else entirely - at this point I’ve learned to enjoy the ride.
