Exact. Snared should be more understandable.
They literally are the ones who can get more export via trade card while they have the most powerfull unit. Not needed.
The tradeoff with those export trickle cards is the slots in the deck. If players want more export to take more advantage of Consulates, they need to put in fewer military improvement cards.
Many of Japaneseās important military improvement cards only improve one specific unit, so they take up a lot of slots. Putting in those export trickle cards means at the expense of some units getting weaker.
It seems to me a pretty broken mechanic for Japan that the explorers can escape with the smoke bomb. In addition, their vills can also build shrines.
It is true that competitively it would not be difficult to explore the hunts with 2+ cav and kill them. But it seems fair to me.
I prefer to nerf broken mechanics, and if Japan goes under, letās give them other buffs instead.
Japan already plays very safely, their vills are in the base and they donāt waste time collecting food, their monks can steal hunts around the map and escape with the smoke bombā¦
Getting the map must be risky.
Japan maybe is a civ that is good in all modalities of the game, treaty and supremacy, they donāt need buffs.
I donāt think monks and shrines are broken. To me, something broken is something that you know is coming, but canāt do nothing about it. Like Italy FI, former Inca stronghold FF, Swedes age IV into Carolean + Mamelukes timing. And so forth.
Is quite easy to scout and punish a shrine boom. Donāt know why so many people are complaining about it.
Now, I was not around during legacy days. Iām pretty sure when maps did not have a ton of resources and hunts like they do now, Japan cherries and stealing hunts probably where quite problematic. But honestly, is not the case right now.
Not broken, unfair.
In legacy clearly more strong yes.
I still stand they need a rework, France or Germany style.
