July Pup Notes

You’re right, but this skin is not the silliest they’ve made and I like it.
Cangaceiros would make great outlaw units on some South American maps.

Aztecs have no artillery, wich is a HUGE disadvantage already. In addition for their poor eco AK are pretty expensive for them. I don’t know when this is going to be solved but Aztecs seems more nerfed and nerfed.

We have so many male characters or figure can be used as a reference, so I prefer female skins or fictional character skins.

French: Joan of Arc as I mentioned earlier, and a man dressed like AoE2 Throwing Axeman.

Dutch: Those as I mentioned earlier, and a man/woman dressed like AoE2 Flemish Militia.

Spanish: Don Quixote, and Female Conquistador like María de Estrada.

Portuguese: Female Combatant in Siege of Diu, like Isabel Madeira and Catarina Lopes.

Ottomans: Court lady and çengi (Turkish belly dancer) as I mentioned earlier, and the Moroccan female corsair Sayyida al Hurra.

Christian Europeans, US and Mexicans: Santa Claus/Christmas Girl for the Christmas event, and Witch for the Halloween events.

Indians: Devi, maybe in sari dress.

The devs can simply design a fictional female fighter wearing a cheongsam (or called qipao) dress like Chun-Li, without giving her the identity of a real historical figure.

They would still have to be full and complete civs…

She looks like a Hispanic/Mexican grandmother xd…she must be Isabel Moctezuma, daughter of Moctezuma II, wife of Cuauhtémoc and last Aztec empress…

They should put it in the tutorial…

That name…(I was beginning to have Vietnam flashbacks)…

That they put him in the Fire campaign as a Haudenosaunee leader against Nathaniel…his son fought in Queenston Heights, he could be the leader of the Haudenosaunee in that battle…

Retold…I already feel you…

I don’t remember this skin.

What country did her uniform belong to?

Russia - it was swapped for the bear skins. Someone above posted pictures of all Initial skins, there u can still see the hussar Lady

I think like you.

And yet just yesterday my girlfriend (who has never played videogames, except clash royale for me …) told me that when she watches the game it seems to her like an old grandparents game hahahaha

I defended our cause claiming that the rts usually have much worse graphics than the rest due to the number of models they handle.

This is one of my fav things of AoE 3.

Ah man, that makes me feel old!

On a different subject, if they need something more ‘Ango’ as a revolt for the British instead of Haiti (which I still maintain is still flimsy as one of their revolutions, they had aside from it being a convenient revolution to dabble in as France was their enemy, they had no holdings), lets go left-field and give them 'New South Wales or Australians if you want to be broad. They were self-governing and had their own government from 1856 (with Australia becoming truly independent in 1901 - still within the Victorian Age!). New South Wales and Colonial Australia as a whole fought in many wars against Australian Aboriginal tribes, fought in the New Zealand Wars against Maori, were sent to India to supress the Mutiny and were also involved in the Mahdist wars and Anglo-Burmese Wars.

If you wanted to stick with the Caribbean and near-by, how about Belize. Not so much a revolution, but rather a ‘splintering’ (then again there’s not many ex-British colonies that revolted - more often they eventually became independent after numerous world wars became the final nail in the coffin for Empire). Splintering off to Belize (or British Honduras at the time) would give you Logwood Cutters/Baymen as armed villagers who focus on wood cutting. Logwood Cutters were essentially lumberjack pirates and would go off pirating for more riches before going back to chopping wood. They could get also get the wooden Stockades (the campaign buildings) as quick to build, mini forts.

Unique and limited shipments of military units (unique units, mercs, natives…) both by shipment and by the church, tc, etc…

I think the new improvements of highlanders for brittish or black riders for portuguese are great (but only usable a limited number of units).

If they made them trainable, apart from the fact that they would be broken, the game would end up losing the asymmetry of the civs.

If all civs could train all types of units, the game wouldn’t be as fun.

But to be balanced, all civs do have to have counters for all units.

I’m getting Masha and Bear vibes. But like if Masha and Bear fused.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Oh please no… The Chinese dragon is not suitable to stand on two legs like a bear.

I can understand your stance, but I think it will still be pretty okay if the Black Watches (British unique upgrade to the Highlanders), the Red Lancers (Dutch unique upgrade to the Stradiot), the Order Knights (Portuguese unique upgrade to the Black Riders) and the Savolax Jaegers (Swedish unique upgrade to the Jaegers) can become trainable at the Tavern. It doesn’t make sense that only the Wild Geese (Spanish unique upgrade to the Irish Brigadiers) can do this. Those mercenary provided by the church cards are actually the unique mercenary upgrades for their own civs respectively, for example the Dutch cannot have the Black Watches even though they can train the Highlanders at Barracks, so don’t need to warry about losing the asymmetry.

On the other hand, at this moment we still have the chance to have unlimited number of them after they’ve been upgraded, as long as they’re already randomly available at the Tavern. So if being trainable means being broken, it should be to introduce them Black Watches and so on as the completely new units rather than upgrades to the existing units. But I’d prefer to have their accessibility fixed at the Tavern after the research, even if it might require lowering the new improvements a bit.

Can we just appreciate the 3 settler card being reintroduced for brits in Age 1. We missed this card dearly. Never leave us again :smiling_face_with_tear:

Yes having unique models that you’ll only see once is a waste.
Also the upgrade is not very meaningful if it only affects 10 units in the entire game (not counting their random appearance in taverns).

Or if mass training is too broken, at least give the civs an infinite card for that merc to make meaningful combos.

I agree with you comments.
Even on the superficial-side, it seems sad that these new skins are for niche and limited use.
If the appropriate balances were to be made, I’d love to see these church improvements to become a way to unlock them in the Tavern for real - certainly gives a civ more flavour and Highlanders should have always been more accessable for the Brits considering they were a common, greatly-utilised part of the British military (I will die on this hill!).

I understand youre opinions perfectly.

And with more reason when you get units with unique historical models of each civ.

In this case, I am totally in favor of enabling them in the tavern/fort/church or infinite shipments.

The problem is with the mercs for ex.

You can’t give cards that enhance these units (they break), and enable them, because you create OP units that end up only becoming viable with that civ.

Also, to me for example. Since I was a kid I have loved using single-use merch shipments (even visually).

Or now I try to make a lot of use of the Reconquista card. And I can only see 10 conquerors (which should be a single unit in Spain) but I’m satisfied…

If I want to see them again, I play another game.

It will be a way, but it will also be ironic when seeing the British who should be closest to them ship them again and again, and meanwhile Dutch just train them from buildings.

  • The Black Watch (The Glorious Revolution): Now also grants Highlanders hitpoint regeneration, +3 LOS and +1 range.
  • Order of the Tower and Sword (IV, Treaty of Tordesillas): Now also improves Black Riders’ hitpoints (15% hitpoints) and melee combat (+30%).

I think their improvements this time still make them fine to be trainable at the Tavern.

To the supremacy players, the economy usually does not allow to afford too more training of them after researching an expensive church tech.

To the treaty players, the only 1 Tavern will become an effective limiter. It is hard to train them quickly in a large number.

I know technically they are not the same unit already, but I would still like to see the two units be more different than just the name and the native tag.

They could still have the same or similar stats, but at least make a clear difference in appearance, e.g. the Prinz Chevauleger rides a gray horse instead. This time introduces new skins for many units, and the Prinz Chevauleger deserves one too.
