unfortunately this is true. Almost every unit getting a nerf is completely killed… Karambit is an example, but the same worked for steppe lancers, organ guns, and condos. These units have been just killed by the nerfs they got. I am scared about the destiny of Lithuanian UU…
That is pretty sad, especially for Karambit and organ guns, since they were supposed a distinctive strategy for their civs.
SLs and condos are less problematic imo, since SLs just miss a role, and condos are team unit looking for a way to be balanced…
because he does this all the time, makes ludicrous claims with all the authority in the world, and we must psychically know when he is serious and when its a joke? gtfo!
some ludicrous claims so far: goths are weak in imperial age, arbalests counter eagle warriors, HC counter eagle warrior raids, the list goes on but im not going to waste brain cells trying to remember what they are
yeah thats true! i think if malay didnt have the 2HS swarm, karambit might have received attention sooner, the faction definitely doesnt lack power (imo) but it would be nice to see these guys brought forward, but reckon organ guns of all these units probably need love the most…
Hera just won’t a match against Lierrey, aztecs, thanks to Karabits. They’re situational, but cover a good spot (raiding unit) other malay unit can’t. That, and they can hold on, and even stop a push. They’re okay. Maybe lmake them 5f cheaper. That’s it
The game Malay vs Aztec starts at around 1:45:00 into the video :
I think Karambits are a good option to go for when you already have Castles up for map control and defense, and you need a quick infantry option in your army comp. I don’t think people would build castles just for Karambit production though, like you would Mangudais or Leitis for example.
When you already have 2-3 castles, you can mass them up quickly.

I wish the devs would learn that there’s a middle ground between huge buffs and huge nerfs…I suspect that many of the changes they make are meant to freshen the meta more than balance the game.
The moment I saw these devs skyrocket the Karambit price from 25F 10G to 30F 15G, i knew this innocent and beautiful unit is doomed…
Did not take me any testing to realize that… was a while ago
ive only played AOC, and then DE, so didnt know about the changes to karambit until i looked em up on the wiki after wondering why they were so expensive
Karambits are my prefered unit to counter monks… If one is wololoed, its not a big issue.
Trust me. You dont want that… Toxicity are increased whenever rank becames public. I know that because of Overwatch forums. whichpreviously had 100% public profiles, but now the users have private profiles by default, and have to make them public actively if they desire so. Even so, the fact that some users choose to not display their career causes some toxic posts…
If someone wishes to display their ELO, this should be possible.

Then mods can step in.
I compare it to looking someone in the face irl, you can make many judgements from that compared to a forum where you are limited to reading text. Rank gives context. It’s no different than trusting the teacher before the student. The police verifies someones drivingskills by looking at a drivers licence, not by how confident they can tell them how great they can drive.
It also avoids many unneeded discussions because you will choose more wisely.
I understand your feelings, but in that case I would make this optional to respect the privacy wishes of some users.
(I would show my low ELO to all of us without shame).
On this forum, we should bring arguments, experience, feelings, not simply a number.
We are talking about a game, why the opinion of one should matter more than the opinion of another if the latter understands the meccanics as good as the first?
Even if you let it optional, everyone who does not wish to show his ELO would be shamed, because others would state that he has a low one, or that he is afraid.
Man, were you really never bullied in high school?
Well, this is not about bullying but allowing more context and thus increasing meaningfull discussion. I would not shame someone for having low elo, however I will take his post with a grain of salt.
For example I don’t consider myself knowledgeable enough to comment on complex unit balance, let alone someone ranked way below me.
Let’s say I want to ask a question, how do I know who’s answer is closest to reality? The guy that is most confident? The guy that has the best spelling? The guy that makes most sense? Well probably all of these things can contribute to some degree in determining who is more likely to speak the truth, however those metrics aren’t as reliable and objective as simply displaying elo. We know that someone with more elo is more likely to have a right mental image of the game. There are many different elo stages to go through, and in each stage things might appear different.
It’s not as simple as seeing low elo and thinking that it’s irrelevant, it’s about comparing the content of the post to elo and then better understand the pov of this user and conclude from there. It also works the other way, if someone reads a high elo post they might feel overwhelmed by expectations when eg; timings are mentioned. Then it can be beneficial to see that it’s not realistic for your current level.
I would say it could be very misleading. People will tend to denigrate low elo players. But maybe a low elo player watches a lot of pro game and has a better understanding of competitive mechanics.
Also high elo players sometimes are very biased. The viper said that vietmamese were fine originally. Then:
the archer bonus was buffed
they got extra techs
the UU was buffed
the imperial UT was buffed
the castle UT was buffed
they got a significant eco bonus.
I wouldn’t say they were fine if they got a huge amount of buffs. Was the viper wrong? No imo. He was just looking from a very competitive point of view. Vietmamese were fine for a top player streaming some challenging games with them.
For instance, for my perspective, where all the games are casual, vietmamese were not fine since for me all the civs should be at least decent.
For a pro player, always picking the civ when willing for the victory in tournaments, it clearly does not matter at all if a civ is underpowered, since it can be said that it is fine for non competitive scenarios…
