Would displaying elo not help to put that high elo opinion in context?

We’re all here names on a webpage talking about aoe2, but every 100-200 elo it’s a different pov.
Everyone should be comfortable with his level, but expect to be understood at his level. It all depends on what you value, showing yourself as you are or a different portrayal.

There is a reason why a coach must be higher elo than yourself, otherwise you’re coaching him :joy:

In class you can easily see if the student is in front, here it’s not so apparent.

But maybe a low elo player watches a lot of pro game and has a better understanding of competitive mechanics.

Everyone can potentially watch streams. It could be that a low elo has more gameknowledge than a higher elo, but over time that would help to translate towards a higher elo. Watching streams is good but can give false perception and confidence, not to be compared with actual experience. Ofcourse it’s most important to carefully look at the context of a post, and not be blinded by elo. Our community is more mature than other gaming communities, so if it works it’s here. Everyone already does it in his mind, trying to guess what level another member is. I prefer to stop the guessing.
