Lack of communication and news about the DLC projects of the AOE franchise

Almost a year has passed since the Poland and Denmark DLC was announced and the developers have not given news about the projects that should have been released in 2024 and that in the end ended up being moved to 2025, I must clarify that the way is somewhat worrying. of operating of the developers since they are not giving the time and dedication that they deserve for the games of the franchise, perhaps they should give the projects to subsidiaries such as capture age so that it can follow up on the DLC that they come to the future and so forgotten empires can dedicate itself solely and exclusively to working on AOE II DE and AOM Retold, it would be interesting to see what things these capture age people can do for AOE III DE, we can only wait for some announcement soon from the developers, in any case I personally wait for news about the AOE III DLC since until today they have only been unfulfilled promises

How much does anyone in CA know about AOE3 to handle it?

We are getting communication. You just have to know where to listen. For example, here at the 1 hr 59 min mark, where Tilanus discusses the civ designs for the DLC.

As long as people keep buying the DLC, Microsoft doesn’t care about our complaints, if this DLC is a success we can forget about changes in how they treat AOE3 and the community.

Want more communication and transparency? Don’t buy the DLC until they guarantee a roadmap for the game and promise us a monthly patch with free content, quality of life improvements, events, civilization balancing, and well-integrated game modes. (The game has a lot of potential to squeeze out, so this isn’t impossible.)

It is not reasonable to expect the community to seek information outside of official channels, and not all of us speak or understand English.

I’m pretty sure that if this DLC fails to sold well - it will be the last content for this game aside from a few balance patches after release.
Boycotting DLC is a bad idea if you want this game alive.

AOE3 has survived for a very long time thanks only to the community, I don’t think a failed DLC will kill the game, at most it will happen like with the original and the modders of the community will be in charge of creating content, patches and more.

Also, I would rather the game stop receiving official content than accept the mistreatment of the community, the lack of respect towards players and the total lack of communication caused by Microsoft’s bad decisions

The community does not need Microsoft and its questionable decisions, it is they who need us and our money, if we consent to their actions we are helping to kill the game and its community.

Anyone who wants to buy the DLC can do so, but then I don’t want to read complaints about the lack of communication, the patches that never arrive, the broken promises, and the poor balancing of X Unit or X civilization.

¿Alguien puede resumir lo que se dijo en el directo, justo en esos minutos exactos? El inglés no es mi fuerte y Twitch no tiene generador de subtítulos

I don’t know if the people at CA know how to program models for AOE 3 DE but it would be good if someone within the Forgotten Empires division showed them how to work with the AOE 3 DE graphics engine so that these people can start creating campaigns, new historical battles and why not new civilizations for AOE 3 DE

I think the correct way to report on the progress of the DLC would be through the official AOE page

I don’t think it’s a good idea to stop supporting the purchase of DLC for AOE 3 DE, the ideal would be to pressure the developers by buying new content and attacking with comments about the content of AOE 3 DE every time they publish something on the official page so that they realize that we all care about the future of the game

The developers are under a contract of silence, they only work on the content and report what Microsoft allows them to transmit and only where they see fit.

Also, we have to get the message across to Microsoft and companies only listen to their own pockets. We can complain for years, but unless we take action over words, they will never listen to us.

This text is addressed to everyone.

The developers are under a confidentiality contract, they only work on the game content and patches, communication and decisions about the game are up to Microsoft who also decide where and when it is allowed to be broadcast.

If you care about the game’s future we have to get the message across to Microsoft and the companies only listen to their own pockets.

We can complain for years and they won’t listen to us, if you care about the game reaching its full potential then we have to be responsible and not buy the DLC until the problems about the lack of communication and broken promises are resolved.

Otherwise no matter how much we complain, the company can ignore us because it doesn’t affect them in any way.

Company is clearly looking for a reason to abandon this game. You can stop them from doing it only by playing and buying their DLCs.
If number of players decrease significantly or DLC fails to sale well they will just leave it.

I’m not saying that people will not play this game after official support ends. But lack of any future updates will decrease people’s interests of this game.

Only a percentage of people is interested in downloading any mods, no matter how great they are. If you have a mod and other person hasn’t - you have different versions of a game, you can’t play ranked game together.
Further division of a player base.

Supporting the game and complaining about bad treatment of our community is the only way.

Well, given that they provided the replay interface for AoM, they can at least give the interface for AoE 3 an overhaul.

Hmm, I don’t think so. What they looked for was a way to increase the player count which is why they introduced the F2P model but meanwhile, AoE 3 is back to pre F2P figures.

Also, if you check SteamDB, you notice that activities on AoE 3 slowed down as soon as AoM was announced in October 2022 which just means they moved most of the staff working on AoE 3 over to AoM. They still have to ship two announced DLCs for AoM as well which looks to be the current priority for Microsoft, given that Retold is now the newer game.

Where did you get the idea that Microsoft needs an excuse to abandon the game? They can abandon it whenever they want and they don’t need an excuse, if the game was so insignificant and didn’t make them any money they would have abandoned it long ago. If anything they are trying to invest as little as possible to get as much profit and this can only cause the game to actually be abandoned, but by the players causing the death of the community. (I’m not going to be complicit in that)

If that were true, AOE:WOL and AOE:NE MODs would never have come about. Not to mention the unofficial patches that the original game had. You’re just afraid and you’re letting that stop you from acting, we’re not going to gain anything by standing by and accepting Microsoft’s systematic mistreatment of the game and of us.

No, that’s the way we get nowhere, because Microsoft gets what it wants and can ignore us like it has done so far. I say enough!, I don’t care how good the DLC is, I’m not going to buy it and I suggest everyone not to buy it, not with everything the company is doing and how it is treating the entire community.

Hmm, I think it takes more than just knowing how to program and making models to create a good DLC. Like, for example, playing the game. If a team dont know how its played, who is its fanbase etc, how can it deliver a good DLC?

I think OP wants more than just that, which should be a patch, not a DLC

And that’s your choice, but you can’t force anyone else to do the same thing. It is a fact of business that if a game doesn’t perform, it will not have further resources allocated to it. Sales are used as a metric in this equation.

It’s tricky. You don’t want to reward Microsoft for not giving the game support. But you also don’t want the DLC to fail, which would factually result in developers being retasked or even laid off. You can only make the choice that makes the best sense to you. But please don’t ignore people pointing out the logical consequences (even though they would be Microsoft’s decision regardless).
