Lakota Flag Poll

AoE2 civs are even less specific. They have Slavs, Celts, and Indians. Only the last few expansions have been reasonably specific and they’re still far from Nobleman level.

Manchu are Mercs, not part of the base civ. My point is that even China with all its diversity, only has one language, so why would they include more Siouxan languages other than Lakota who were the most prominent member of the Sioux?

AnaWinters dear friend, please, don’t panic. I like your civ as the most like in the game. Sioux - is are “name of all tribes in one” from the west USA, Lakota, Dakota, e.t.c. Please, understand it.

read the wiki. i didnt want to copy paste the whole thing

The unit that speaks Manchu is not part of the base civ. I’m not saying Manchus weren’t part of China then. They led China during that time, yet the Chinese faction speaks Mandarin.

thats not my point. the article lists all unit types and what dialects/accents they speak

I have no idea how to add it sorry. Could you walk me through it?

In my opinion, the flag should be changed if there are groups of people belonging to the people in question who would not recognize it as representative. But a proposal I have, which in my opinion, would greatly improve the appearance of the game and give more realism to native, Asian and African civilizations, would be that they present flags only for the selection of civilization, and that during the game they do not present flags . First, not all had symbols such as flags. I don’t know if the Aztecs had a flag, but I’ve never read information about it, I know that cities, clans, different groups in the empire, had their standards, but I don’t remember reading about flags. Haudenosaunee and Lakota, if I’m not mistaken, didn’t have flags at the time either, and the Incas had flags and standards, including representing the empire, as well as factions, countries within the empire, families, but it is unknown if the flag they used would be the Unancha, as presented in the game, or if it would otherwise be made, but it is known that the Inca flags were not fluttering but were fixed. The Japanese also used fixed, non-flickering flags. If the game’s flags are removed, we’ll be able to see the architecture better, we’ll have more realism and it won’t make a difference, since these people were portrayed with specific and very diverse architectures. The Europeans liked to have coins, and as European architecture was not worked out so that each country had a different one, flags are useful for Europeans. In other civilizations, they are just an unnecessary addition, which takes some of the realism of the game, and hinders the view of buildings.

Blockquote I don’t know if the Aztecs had a flag

Yes,the Aztecs had a kind of flag…

(the flag symbolizes the alliance of the three Aztec cities that made up the Aztec Empire (Mexico-Tenochtitlan, Tetzcoco, and Tlacopan)

So, I was unaware of your mod until after I did this, but I made my own flag mod for the Lakota, keeping the color scheme of the original, but using the Oglala tipi design from their flag.

Flag_Sioux

The coloration of the flag is important - the red is the blood of our dead, the blue is the blood of Inyan.

Also, why are there eight tipis? The original Oglala flag uses nine because there’s nine districts on Pine Ridge, but a modification for the game could be argued to have seven tipis - one for each of the Lakota tribes.

But eight?

The version I found had 8 tipis on it and it was simply the image I used.

I could try to reduce it to 7 though, I think that’d be fitting.

As for the blue water/blood color, is there any shade of blue that would be best? Would you recommend it be used as a border? How would it be appropriate to represent it?

The original flag uses royal blue as the flag’s border - this is the best, as the blue on the edges is also representative of the afterlife and Inyan’s presence being everywhere.

How does this look?

It looks like do not affect the call of developers, there is a poll where the majority of players are in “YES!” Sadly.
