Im not tamil but I can understand the language a bit by watching movies xD.
Ah I see. Good to know either way. xD
Yes, that’s why I say it…the new civilizations should belong to the architecture of Central Europe (or at least the Saxons and Danes) (and that of Northern Europe would be left for the Vikings and Varangians)…
I know, I know… they’ve existed for thousands of years, but what matters is that in the historical period we’re talking about they did something important (fought a war or built a wonder)…
Yes, they already have the voices in AoM and AoE 3… I don’t know why they don’t do it…
I can understand Saxons, but why should Danes get the Central Euro set? Just because they’re closer to Germany?
This is almost as bad as people saying Goths should get a Viking-based set (which was a thing before this DLC was even announced and I always disagreed with it).
Goths and Huns should be in the same set with romans as they are only representing dark age/migration era civis now.
“Fight Europeans” isn’t the definition of important… I know you have an odd cadence but you know better dude. Even if they didn’t fight Europeans many probably had empires of civilizations with interesting war or networks and incredible wealth
Paradoxically, the language spoken by the Italians/Byzantines in the game would be fine for the Goths
Goths had their own language, and it’s fairly well attested, so I’d rather them speak that instead of Latin.
Edit: I’d also love new voice lines for Portuguese and Persians, are the current ones are poorly acted and full of mistakes, and for Berbers (whose voice lines include actual gibberish).
That’s a valid point, but as far as I know, the Gothic language was already in decline by the mid-6th century. It always depends on what they choose to emphasise.
And in which sense is the same variant of German as Teutons better than actual Gothic? And if you think it’s not good either, what is the alternative?
What? I just said that giving Latin to the Goths wouldn’t be a mistake. I didn’t say that using their own Gothic language would be wrong, nor that leaving the Goths as they are now would be right.
Come on! Those Euro-factions aren’t “missing”. AoE2 already has a ton of civs.
Eh, I just didn’t know what was your angle. You clarified it now.
While I agree, you seemed to be mad at me for having ideas for a Mexican area expansion so it almost sounds like you don’t know what you want.
We should totally get Alans ingame to complete the rus areas.Alans do showup in attila.UUs could be the war dogs and scythian ca unit in the editor.
The Iranian theory. According to it, the Rus are descendants of the Iranian‑speaking Roxolani or Alans
Indeed. An Alani civ separate from the Vandals means the Vandals can just be the African displaced Europeans represented by their crossbow riders and camels and Dromons maybe Steppe Lancers from their Alani allies while the Alans can be those steppe nomads who are also Caucus mule carters and ho happen to have fortified churches and steppe lancers and camels
Shouldn’t they have CA to represent alan allies? To me all the dark age civis goths romans huns should have CA and not MC line.
While we are at it any regional unit that can be shared across the eastern european civis which dont get any as of now?Im assuming magyars slavs bulgarians lithuanians dont get anything.
I think people just need to understand that AoE2 has always been historically inspired rather than historically strict, but with the direction of the latest DLCs it is becoming increasingly fantasy-inspired as well in how units and rosters are represented. We already have Goths with Hand Cannoneers and Bombard Cannons, while numerous non-Western European civs use Western European-styled units, weaponry and technologies they did not historically possess in those forms.
So whether a civ gets Cavalry Archers, Mounted Crossbowmen or some regional unit isn’t necessarily going to correspond perfectly with what that people actually fielded historically. Historical authenticity still matters, but clearly it is increasingly being mixed with gameplay, abstraction and outright anachronism.
Yes, exactly…but there isn’t much of a record of that (since the pre-Columbian civilizations didn’t have it recorded in writing, except for the Mayan stelae)…
They did have more recorded, until certain bishop decided it’s witchcraft.
