Magyar Huszar Wings Problem

As someone that loves to play with the Magyars I rly love the new look of their Huszars, it looks sick imo, but I understand the complains that it doesn’t trully represent the real ones. I wish they could fix their look for vanilla but still give us a mod to add the wings back.

But when there are MANY units in a mess and you do not zoom it is hard to see if it is a knight or a light cav. It is true that I see worse in D.E. compared to the Conq. , in fact even the monks look bad in myview, classical monks were OK, why did they even change it

I fully agree with your comment. The only one issue i have with the new magyar huszar models is that they got wings, nothing else. Just like they didnt have wings in the forgotten because they arent poland I kinda want the same thing. And your solution would be pretty much on what i would prefer.

How can you not see the difference between knights and light cav? Knights have white horse and shield and the light cav has brown horse and no shield.

Also the Magyar Huszar has a unique shield that no other units has in the game…

Monks pretty much look the same.

AoE2 has an extremely poor track record with historical accuracy across the board. You sound ridiculous complaining about this one specific thing when the entire game is and has always been like that. It’s clear that you know very little about history outside of what is probably your own country of Hungary. I’m from Norway but you don’t see me whining that the Viking Berserk has horns on his helmet when real vikings never did, because that’s a silly thing to nitpick about in a game where any 400 AD civilization across the globe can build exploding ships.

  1. Vikings did have ceremonial helmets and they did have them in age 2 hd too.
  2. Magyar huszars didn’t have wings in hd, they didnt have any kinds of wings in history so not sure what you are on about. You pretty much ignored everything i brought up just to try to prove something.
Berserkers weren’t changed anything and been accuratly brought from hd to de, magyar huszars weren’t. Now what if vikings got wings on their backs in de? I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be fine with that and if thats the case than whats your point? What magyar huszars and berserkers share in history is that neither of them had wings.
You pretty much justifying a stupid change that was ACCURATE in hd to not be accurate in de just because age 2 never was 100% historically accurate. Interestingly enough it was still accurate in hd for the magyar huszar that is.

This is pretty much what the hussars themselves based on the only thing they had to do is not put on the wings.

Yeah I’m really not a fan of the wings either. This was possibly the coolest looking unit in the previous game and they are plenty distinctive already because of their shields. The wings look pretty dumb to me. Honestly, I wish they would get rid of them for regular hussars too.

Fully agree with you. On the regular hussars part tho, I don’t think we can get this one thing resolved. Difference between magyar and regular hussars that regular ones even had wings in hd, magyar huszars on the other hand didn’t. So if they manage to listen to us and remove the wings at least from them, I’d be satesfied. But I’m kinda losing hope, cos not many people seem to care or just those people can’t find this. And there are also people who make excuses for the wings. All they had to do to recreate the hd magyar huszar faithfully, but they felt the urge to stamp on the stupid wings.

Yes. The closest thing I can find to their version is ones with winged shields, but thats very different, from having wings in the back.

It is time to ■■■■■ agian! Now that Poland has been added they can be the only civ with winged hussars.

Devs! Give us back our Magyar Huszar!

Leave base game content alone, thanks.

Current Magyar Huszar looks great. People can learn about Hungarian Militiary and notice that not only Polish Hussars had one with wings.

Ideally there should be wingless version for the magyar hussar normal hussar now.
Also a proper skin for the mounted samurai. Its stupid not to have a skin when its a new unit added in de.

Why though? Magyar Hussars were the first Hussars. Actually having Polish Hussars is quite anachronistic for AOE2 depending on where you put the end of the AOE2 time frame.

someone said w/ somalion gebeto the tmie frame ends in 18 century. but just remove their wings

I’m inclined to agree. No non-Pole has any right to wear wings while riding horses. And Poles shouldn’t be wearing them in a middle ages game.

I mean age 2 has janissaries with rifles, bombard cannons so don’t see why there shouldn’t be polish winged hussar. But the key part is polish cos the hungarian variety shouldn’t have wings. The only reason they added wings to magyar huszars cos they think thats the only way simpletons recognize a hussar.

I honestly have to ask, because i can’t really understand it. Are the wings that shouldn’t be wings on a unit that had the wings before another unit hat has the wings, so important to this game? I saw another post regarding the Indian civ being needed to be split in 5 differrent factions to be historically accurate. And every time i go to the forums, the need for 100% historical accuracy is there, top posts, instead of ideas bouncing and strategies discussed and tactics explained. Dp we need these changes to make the game more…playable?

(Don’t mean to be rude or condescending or ignorant, just want to understand “Why?”)
