Will do!

Currently Tibetans are progressing well. Work on level 5 has started, and levels 1 & 2 are complete, with 3 nearly complete/totally complete.

Also the problems seem to be fixed with the mod.

Pics?
Curious whats it about

Sorry for answering so much later, got busy with stuff

Yeah but infantry is inherently worse than knights. Romans are already a good knight civ and in castle age their knights are generic

Romans have to pay 25% more resources for Militia and they still die in only 30 arrow shots because they lack Gambesons. And militia arent even that good to begin with, so slower knights is just a lot less bad than what Romans lose

I know it may sound like Im overreacting, but I dont think we need to test to see that a knight that is only beaten by Lithuanians with three relics and tanks 120 crossbow shots is overpowered

I just dont get why you want ro give them this. If the option is still bad then bonuses are pointless (and yes I think the same about the Persian Parthian tactics bonus)

To me at least its just a weird way to represemt the Khitans. They were basically a steppe nation who didnt fight like other steppe nations. But now you have a civ that feels the other way around, because it has bonuses for defemses despite being meant to use Steppe units.

Yeah, but I feel like that has more to do with civ design than with having good knights as option. I think giving Jurchen Paladins make sense

Also Poles already have blast damage on light cav.

Quantity over quality is fine with me if quantity makes up for qualirty. In this case having cheaper archers makes no sense because they are way too bad to ever use. Their infantry in imp is worse than generic too.

If you want to have it like this you may as well give them “military units 10% cheaper” and give them champion and halb without some tech

Its literally a better Vietnamese bonus tho, and its still quite weak. Although now that I think about it may be fine since the Vietnamese bonus is worded to include the no wood cost in it

Hmmmm…we could try our hand at making some pics like the DLC ones have on their Steam pages.

Sure. We’re opening discussions on what to give Tibetans instead.

It’s not intended to be bad. It’s intended to make up for lacking elsewhere.

They lack Guard Towers, so it’s to have the visual of them building only cheap wooden defenses, but lots of them.

As Persians prove, having Paladins on a civ not based in Europe looks weird.

Good reminder. Perhaps it can be just restricted to Steppe Lancers.

Tanguts already have powerful camels, they don’t need halbs.

Their stuff being cheaper isn’t a tech.

Vikings proved for ages that getting Wheelbarrow without interrupting your villager production is very strong.

add me in discord … (20 chars)

Okay I have a few problems beyond this one but this is the only oroblem that was BIG. Sorry if I sound too negative, overall the designs are good, I just may be finding them a bit messy

I mean, its bad. And I think in general having small bonuses for very weak options is quite pointless, the civ will play the same with or without it

Oh okay. I honestly think the discount is quite small if the civ is lacking guard tower (I honestly forgot to check the university)

Eh I think its fine. Most generic unit are very western european looking

I mean that they could have cheap halbs and champions missing the last infantry armour or something, not that the current bonus is locked behind techs.

And if you dont think they need good halbs wht not give them cheaper militia and forget about the rest? Their archer units are unusable already

I may have been a bit too quick to call it useless but you still need to pay for it, so its probably around as good as Burgundian eco in ideal conditions without the dark age or resource advantage Burgundians have.

Overall I think calling them an eco civ is a bit unfounded

So I really like the idea of this – i.e. no crossbow but their archers are cheap and train quickly – but I think you need to push it further in order for it to be useful. From Castle Age onwards, the archer discount is worse than the Mayan one, and Mayans get fully upgraded arbalesters and have a better economy. Portuguese and Koreans also have comparable archer discounts with fully upgraded arbalesters.

I think I must be misunderstanding how you intend this to be used, but with no crossbow I don’t think it’s enough to make archer play viable beyond Feudal Age. I realise it applies to infantry too, but I don’t see how that compensates for the lack of crossbow.

That’s a reasonable assessment. As I said before, normally I lean on the side of caution, as I’m used to people complaining endlessly about things being OP etc.

Also here’s some WIP pics from the campaigns. Haven’t had the chance to make some nicer images like the real DLC Steam pages, but this might be interesting to look at.

Could use more decorations on those maps. They lack eye candy.

Fair enough, that does seem like a sensible approach. It’s like the opposite of the approach FE took with some new civs like Cumans – release them OP and then tone them down.

A lot of these campaigns feature the steppe, so there will be areas that look a little more bland than others. I have tried making areas that should have more detail actually look vibrant and alive.

But I also have to take into account space required for armies or buildings.

I’m quite happy to dial some of these civs up if they turn out to be too weak. But that requires people to point that out.

Also sorry for the lack of updates. I have been very unwell the past week, and still haven’t fully recovered. But we only have 1 level left for the Tibetans campaign, and it’s a big famous battle that I am really looking forward to.

You can decorate Steppe feature as well, just don’t line up houses and trees in a line and straight long walls which looks very artificial ugly. Try using some random placement to get a more natural look.

You don’t have the context here, but this is a part of the map you’re only supposed to see a small amount of. It’s filled in with trees to catch the edge of people’s eye and nothing more.

To the right of the screen it leads to a winding cliff-side path that goes down into a more temperate area with rocks and ruins poking out of the treeline.

It’s a quick screenshot I had to hand, because I haven’t been able to make nice ones yet. But people were asking to take a look, so I provided it. Now I wish I hadn’t.

Learn to take some criticisms. It will only make you better.
You are too closed to accept feedbacks it seems.

You’re seeing a tiny fraction of a couple of maps (some of which isn’t even supposed to be seen during gameplay). Look at the whole thing, then judge.

There is more going on in a map than just looks. It has to be playable as well.

I’m not closed. I just want people to get a full picture first, as feedback based on partial information is not helpful.

I didn’t post those images for feedback. I did it because people asked to see it.

Alright buddy do as it pleases you.

Look, when it’s up for people to play, then I’d love feedback. We can work on it etc, when people have the full context.

I’m just a bit exhausted from getting a lot of complaints left and right on stuff that is both being done for fun by just two people, and isn’t even finished or even in a state where it’s playable.

No1 rule in modding listen to everybody but only do what you want.if not the project will never get finished.

Dw I think it looks fine, I can see by the minimap that it’s not finished anyhow, but it looks fine even if it were finished.
Not sure about others but I always prioritize space in the scenarios rather than if it looks pretty enough.

Also, not sure if you are aware of this or not, because it didn’t seem like you used it much by the look of the screenshot but you can hit “ctrl” + “g” to cycle between placing stuff that are snapped to the grid and placing when it isn’t.

Hope it helps! Your mod looks really cool! Planning on& somewhat in the process making some Chinese scenarios myself.
