Why do the Incas have Mayans (Holcan warriors) as allies on their cards? Is this historically correct?
I heard Mayans and Aztecs never met despite living fairly close
Thereās no way they werenāt in contact. Teotihuacan conquered much of the Maya a millennia before.
For reference, Tenochtitlan was the Aztec Capital and Teotihuacan is just across the lake.
I have the book āHandbook of south american indians - The Circum caribbean Tribesā by Julian H. Steward.
The Carib
The Island Caribe were very similar to the Arawak in material culture, but their social and religious patterns were more like those of the Tropical Forests, and their ferocity and cruelty in warfare were very reminisicent of the Tupi. They made continual raids and took female captives as wives but tortured, killed and ate male captives and made trophies of their bones. And more and moreā¦
This book is highly detailed and extensive iām loving it xD
The Ciboney lived in the Caribean but were northern american and probably came from Florida. The Arawak who were typically circum-caribean and came from south america. The caribe were from the tropical forest and came from south america. During the european conquest the Ciboney occupied part of Cuba and Haiti. The Arawak held the remainder of the Greater Antilles (northern and eastern islands), but they had been driven from most of the lesser antilles (east and south) by the Carib, probably in a very recent period.
The Ciboney were hunters. But the Arawak and Carib were farmers and had a social structured society and religion. And the book goes deep into those.
I would like to see such a map showing completely new European maps ![]()
I think that since each continent has its own unique Minor Nations types such as:
- Africans have African Kingdoms
- Europeans have the European Royal House
- Native Americans have a Native American Settlement
- So Asians have an Asian Holy Site
So the Asian Minor Nations should continue to be based on religions and orders. I think it would be possible to create attractive Minor Nations that could represent both religious organizations and the many nations of Asia. Religious and monastic subgroups could also be created. As an example, I will give potential Christian Minor Nations for Asian Maps:
- Caucasus maps - Armenian Monastery, Byzantine-Georgian Order
- Siberian maps - Orthodox Lavra
- Eastern maps close - Crusaders, Templars
Of course, there could be numerous Holy Sites from other religions similar to the above, e.g. Islam, Buddhism or Hinduism, etc.
When adding new units to the new and old Asian Minor Nations, I think it would be appropriate to include not only religious units but also others.
Oceanian Minor Nations could be similar to American Native Minor Nations.
Now older American and Asian allies need to be revisited.
Or according to the description of royal houses, maybe the devs want to intentionally make natives on different maps have very different roles. Not sure if this is really a good idea because it may make some civs or build orders very map-dependent.
I disagree. Thatās too restrictive. And leaves out multiple ethnic groups with religions too unique to have multiple of them be represented by a single civ.
Not to mention that, with the release of The African Royals and the Bahia and Minas Gerais maps, the Sufi Mosque and the Jesuit Mission are no longer exclusive to Asian maps.
Yes, but the Asian Minor Nation founders are based on religions, orders, etc.
Royal Houses for Europeans are a much better idea because they are supranational and at the same time accurate. Another solution would be to create a completely new type specifically for Asian maps and Holy Sites would become intercontinental (Jesuits, for example, appear in the Definitive Edition on both Asian and American and African maps). Then you could add a lot of Holy Sites (Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu and more - maybe even Jewish) to increase the variety of maps from all continents.
The most appropriate would be the Wayuu and the Muisca. Although the Wayuu did not exactly inhabit the Andes mountain range, they were in a large area from Colombia and Venezuela. The territory they occupied was relatively small, but their influence I believe extended beyond their borders. I donāt know if the Inca empire was aware of the existence of the Muiscas, but if so, it would be good to know on what maps it would make sense for them to be.
This would be the appropriate biome for the north of the Andes:

I would like to know on what maps the Wayuu and the Muiscas could make sense.
Friend, my post was well over a year ago and theyāve already renamed the Inca to the Quechua.
I am aware of that, but basically I am suggesting that new content should be created for a better representation of the area and the culture. The Amazon map and the Andean map are too brief and poorly represented. In fact South America in general has very little associated content.
I agree with you. We need more South American content.
I unfortunately donāt know much about South American natives despite living here (I blame the education, which only cares about Portugal and the Brazilian government), just from what Iāve heard since I started playing the game for real, they could add Jivaros, Tainos, Tehuelches, Guaranis, Warisā¦
There were some more I learned about on the site but I canāt remember them right now.
If they added at least 3 more Mesoamerican maps, it would be possible to remove Zapotecs and Mayas from South American maps and still keep them in 5 maps.
Iād suggest Oaxaca (Zapotecsā historical homeland), Guatemala (for Mayans) and Lake Texcoco/Tenochtitlan.
Otherwise Iād also suggest Gibraltar as a hybrid Euro/African map
Edit: Iād also suggest at least one map based on Sakhalin and one more based on Hokkaido (instead of there being only a single map for Hokkaido). Honshu could probably be split as well and Iād also suggest a map based on Kyushu:
(Thatās Southwest of Honshu)
Thatād justify the addition of a minor Ainu civ and maybe open way for a Shinto minor civ as well
Nootka is just the worst minor civ in the game.
Nothing special on the upgrades and the native unit has low damage and only a 2x multiplyer vs cavalry.
Maybe they could both buff them and make the Nootka War Chief an actual hero, like the Akan Tufohen and the Berber Sultan
In fact, I think all pre-DE minor civs (and maybe the Tengris as well) need buffs.
And I really wish they would replace the Tupi tech that gives pet pumas.
Nootka in particular are pretty awful.
But most of the minor american civs arenāt bad because either they have good techs or good units.
I looked up regions in Panama to find a place that could ārealisticallyā (being very generous) have both Mesoamerican and South American natives, and I think Darien could be it?
Even thatās a big stretch. However, the ChocóāDariĆ©n moist forests would be a good location for a map. It could fit some new natives like Muisca or Maroons
