not everyone can think exactly the same, but I respect their opinion.
First of all, comparing age of empires 4 with a mobile game is pretty ridiculous. We can already see the big differences when we look at the pictures.
One can comment on the art style of a rts game, but these comments are about how the art style used can be further improved, not about different art styles, ultimately this is a rts game.
Most people who will be playing age of empires 4 will be playing the game in zoom out (especially aoe2 players) and zoom out of aoe4 is just as good
now let’s get to the bad sides of the game
-
units should be more detailed
-
buildings must be larger than units
-
Some issues such as the size of the arrows should be fixed.
-
movement of horses, etc.
Let’s look at the beautiful features of the game now.
-The way the gameplay looks like ao2 looks pretty nice
- views of medieval cities are really good
-The zoom out of the game is quite perfect
these are my thoughts about the game right now I will definitely buy it when the game is released.
I would be glad if you can tell me about the places where you joined me and did not agree with me in the stuff I wrote. This way we can understand each other better

They look like puffs of smoke that have been colored orange
edit: I think Jimmy’s idea of having a separate graphics pack for people who prefer better graphics, kinda like AoE2 DEs ultra graphics(but better of course) It would be free, or like a few dollars at the most

Totally agree with you. Those negative aspects that you are talking about are what i consider wrong with a 2021 AAA title.
I like the game for all the other aspects: soldiers on Wall, big cities etc.
But these elements have to be improved
-
Units: more textures and details to give a Sense of realism. Something like AOE3de models would be a good point. Also new models for mines Gold (AOE3de Is good example).
-
arrows: delete them. They should reintroduce the same arrows we seen in the X019 trailer;
-
animations: cavalry attacks, archers and Elephants have to be improved;
-
some effects like Fire, smoke and arquebusier have to be changed;
-
Building have to be bigger.

I agree with this list, other then the “have to be changed” portion

Based on all your other comments, you must be genuine. But this reads like a sarcastic comment. Bracing for impact or drawing swords are graphical easter eggs. They aren’t innovative gameplay changes.
to be fair, we don’t really know if these are just animations or actual game play features. It is impossible to tell just from footage
I can be happy with the graphics if it runs well. With 8 players you can have up to 1600 units on the map and I really hope that it can handle that. I’d always take good performance over extra shaders. Still, I think the unit models can easily be modified without hurting performance.
Even I can model better with my 5 days of 3d blender course. lol.
Yes, developers should give different graphic options to the players. Essence engine Is a very scalable engine.

plus this game had a different art style

yes these are, bracing for impact means ur spear unit doest bonus damage to cavalry while bracing… the opponent player can use this by making the cavalry a fake charge and when the spearmen are bracing and unmovable then charge the infantry, and cavalry charge deals initial bonus damage then generic damage when switch to sword, the infantry has similar attack as they start the fight with a jump and stab… these are all game mechanics not fancy graphics… I use these all the time in conquerors blade and total war
Damn I didn’t think it was this bad.
Why does everything look like rubber/plastic?
Weapons need more shine, looks like a plastic sword.
Textures are too clean.

It looks like at most medium, if this is what ultra graphics look like. I hope the gameplay is incredible. For reference, the troops on the wall look like a blob of colors, the fighting scenes look alright i guess but still seem to auto and cartoonosh like a fight with a cav not attacking once. I hope they add some layers to these graphics, hud, etc.
And the unit graphics? On the wall too?
Which releases in 6 months…
Well said, too much graphic detail is overwhelming in an RTS. And being able to play it at 4K would be nice!

Have to admit from this view it looks pretty epic. Unit detail is lacking when zoomed in, but my guess is they did this to maintain smooth performance.
