Yeah I’d love to see Etruscan or Gaul civilizations added to Age 1
the Gauls could be encompassed in Celts and the Etruscans could be Greek but with some unique technologies…
While I wish for at least one new DLC for this game, I think having bugs fixed would be much more beneficial than having only new content added. To have less, but more polished content is better than having more content but full of issues.
I definitely want a couple of bugs fixed, but new content would be nice too. All that matters is, how many and what “kind” of developers Microsoft is willing to put on AOE 1 DE again. Because bugfixing and new content requires different types of developers (for the most part).
I’ve heard people say the Genie engine for this game (not the one in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition) does not allow for new civilizations to be added, albeit I would like an official confirmation about this, since it’s going to be just a rumor otherwise.
Even if there is no way to implement new civilizations, I would like new content of any other type nevertheless. This game deserves more love.
If they can add such niche civilisations like Choson, Minoans and Palmyrans then Gauls, Scythians, Etruscans and Indians would be perfectly fine.
then how about goths and aztecs? i mean wtf?
or minoans and hittites vs romans???
Now the Indians wouldn’t be one civ in AoE1. It would be multiple civs. In fact, this is what the Beyond the Indus expansion mod is doing.
The first DLC for AoE1 DE which would be the second expansion pack for AoE1 can be the Beyond the Indus expansion pack which would focus on the ancient civilizations of the Indian Subcontinent with four new civs being added: Funans, Harappans, Mauryans, and Vietnamese.
How do viet’s fit in with an indian expansion?
Add gate. It is historically to do this in the game along with the Indian and Etruscan or an American civilization. Campaigns for Persian Assyrian and Summerian civs are also welcome
I still think there is no point to add 3-4 indian civilization. You have to make them all different too. Thats why one will work just fine. AoE1 has no unique techs or unique units, which means you can only give them civ bonuses and different techs and unit wise they would be too similar I think. You could argue that Chinese should also have many countries, but you only have Shang and I think India is same. Just pick one or give them umbrella term which takes different Indian civilization into account.
Just having a mayurans civi is enough.
I prefer that the Indian expansion adds four civs because the Indian subcontinent was divided into many empires throughout antiquity.
What would be the differences between the civilisations? Effort would be better spent differentiating existing civilisations by architecture or unit skin (regional). Etruscans, Scythians, Gauls, Nubians, Thracians, Iberians etc…
It could be a dlc known as “limits of the ancient world” and there you put four civs: Mauryas (would be like the ancestors of the Indians of aoe 2),Aksum (Ethiopians but of aoe 1),Celts and Olmecs (ancestors of the Aztecs)…and that you can create doors…
Which Ethopians?
Aksum or Kush, anything of the two…
Kush is already kind of inside Egyptian Tech tree or at least Nubians.
Ah ok…then they maybe would put Ethiopians?..
