Then it would have deterministic gameplay, and Egyptians would always lose to Romans, Persians would always lose to Macedonians…
Historically accurate and Gameplay, are incompatible. True historical accuracy would be a simulation that plays itself, and cannot be interacted with.
AoE is a game, so it cannot be “accurate” by default.
When I say historically accurate I meant campaigns based on true events. I dont care about meta. One day, the game will loose a lot of players, servers will be turned off and only thing that matters will be campaings.
Yes. That’s why singleplayer content is very important. I want to be able to play this game for as long as I want, and for many years to come. Although I think the campaigns available offer good hundreds of hours of play, it would be really nice to have new campaigns in the form of DLC. I would collect them, no doubt; I really love ancient history, so it would be amazing for me to have all that new content at my disposal.
Not if there are dozens of campaigns, like in AoE2.
I think it is honestly better for a RTS game to have a lot of small campaigns with a lot of different factions or Tech Tree cutoffs of a main faction (doable in games like C&C and -craft games), than have very large but few campaigns.
I like the AoE 1 and 2 campaign formula the best. You actually replay them often, because they are both short (do not overstay their welcome) and varied (there are many of them, with a lot of different enemies and conditions).
If I get 200 hours off a game, I consider it a good investment.
200-400 hours is A LOT of time sunk into a game, and it will necessarily mean it is a great product, from a cost to usage standpoint.
Cannot really be done in Historical games, too much, but both C&C and other games often have such mechanics.
In the very first C&C, there is a Commando mission where you only get one unit, and are tasked to infiltrate a base and destroy one structure, which will be negated to the enemy entuirely, on you next mission, which is the same map, expanded, and you have an invasion force.
I think a new DLC would make a good impact in aoe 1 DE.
Aoe 1 DE was exclusive for MS store for too long, it reduced the players base when there was a big hype.
A new good DLC would cause a new hype to the game. Microsoft, please take my money!!!
Implementation of Land trade, trade caravans, trade routes. Preferably camels with empty baskets that returns on the trade route with full baskets.
Add gates to city walls!
Greek tech tree, could we please add the sword line for the Greeks, at least up to long sword?
Give the Greeks a unique tech called philosophers that allows you to age up 50% faster.
Reduce their siege capabilities and enable the sword line please.
Yes , Greater Zimbabwe controlled the ivory and gold trade from the interior to the southeastern coast of Africa. By adding Greater Zimbabwe allongside the Nubians and perhaps other African civs, you can simulate battles between the African tribes ,depicting how Greater Zimbabwe, used their military and trade , growing from a small early settelemt and came to prominance as a large Kingdom.
In the middle ages they were a powerful kingdom, Kingdom of Zimbabwe, but their development had already started in the earlier ages , see Shona People and Greater Zimbabwe.
I Just want more African civs and Greater Zimbabwe was one such civ of the time period.
