This used to be an issue on Steam!
They removed Premium Upgrade, asking players to refund and rebuy the game if the issue still happens to them.
The only thing we can do is wait and create a ticket. or does anyone have a workaround for it

Cant access Freyr or portraits on xbox series x. Have restart console, reinstalled game, done the same on my series s.
The premium copy i gifted to a PC user also can not access freyr dlc even after troubleshooting.
Probably going to refund and wait to buy it on sale in future and just play base game until then.

En mi caso me regalaron el juego base y yo compré la versión Upgrade para ya tener los DLC ni bien vayan saliendo. Intenté pedir un reembolso pero solo cubre lo que yo compré y no la versión base que me regalaron. Por ende no me combiene la solución que presentaron los desarrolladores. Estoy dispuesto a esperar hasta el lanzamiento Oficial, 4 de septiembre. Espero que el error se solucione pronto o que me den otra alternativa

I had the same issue, but I found a way to load the DLC.
First, open the game and wait for it to finish loading. Once the game is fully loaded, go to the Start menu in Windows, locate the game’s properties, and click on ‘Repair’. This action should trigger the game to load the DLC.
If you purchased via microsoft, go onto microsoft purchases, click on age of mythology and there will be an option to request refund and to provide a reason as to why.
To which you have a great reason, of purchasing a product or service that did not meet description provided, thus being faulty and or misleading.
So politely request your refund if thats in your best interest and repurchase when its suitable e.g. DLC goes on sale but may be a bit of a wait.
If you just want the freyr DLC after refund, due to it recently being changed to be purchasable on its own for a low price you could do gamepass quest and microsoft rewards, within a month of 5 minutes a day of bing task and searches youll have enough points to redeem a microsoft gift card to spend on freyr DLC.
Then you can wait until the later DLC arrive and determine if theyre worth purchasing.
Not how i wanted to do things hence i preordered. But im not willing for my money to go towards a failed release with misleading promises, so ill show that with my purchasing behaviour and refund for now

Same problem here on the S series using Gamepass Ultimate + the Premium upgrade.
You can still play a bit early, but it’s pretty annoying not to have access to the DLC content you paid for…
Of course, a lot of people will be playing it on Steam and PC, but come on… Aren’t things supposed to be tested before launch to make sure they work ?
