At least according to Ornlu the saracen hp bonus applies BEFORE bloodlines. So heavy camels are unchanged, elite mamelukes have 2.5 more hp (idk how the rounding would work).

saracen non-heavy camels and non-elite mameluke are probably slightly worse, but it’s free so in practice a buff.

You mean better?
Camel HP went 110 (130 after BL) → 125 (145 after BL).
Mameluke HP 75 (95 after BL) → 100 (120 after BL).
Does the bonus apply to Mameluke though?

This is similar to the Baptistery building for my Armenians concept. Hmmm…

Well if you include zealotry then it’s worse.

(old balance) non-heavy camel rider 100hp + 10hp (bonus) + 20hp(bloodlines) + 20hp(zealotry) = 150hp
(new balance) non-heavy camel rider 100hp + 25hp (25% bonus) + 20hp(bloodlines) = 145hp

yes it also applies to the mameluke, but the mameluke is also getting +10hp.

(old balance) non-elite mameluke 65hp + 10hp(bonus) + 20hp(zealotry) + 20 hp(bloodlines) = 115hp
(old balance) non-elite mameluke 75hp + 18.75hp (25% bonus) + 20 hp(bloodlines) = 113.75hp

so technically castle age saracens have a slightly lower ceiling than before, but now you hit that ceiling immediately upon reaching castle age and save 400f 400g.

So yeah, pragmatically a buff.

Okay. I misunderstood.

I’m really happy about it because it removed an ugly repeating bonus for same civ. Now Burmese next.

Redundancy is always good in Age of Empires.

They should make Samurai take less bonus damage and/or less damage from UU like someone else said

NP. we are taking about four different units, over two balances, with two techs and two different versions of a bonus. It’s a smidge complicated. I probably didn’t explain it the best either at the beginning.

What exactly achieves that +2 attack vs archers for Japanese cav archers? Are they starving vs archers or what?

Okay. Now you tell about that, make me realize how good both of us, and probably almost all of us are good at calculating AOE unit stats. 11

Had we also be this good in our life, we might be working in Microsoft and came up with a better game. 11

Slaughtering archer in every possible way is the direction balance team went ever since DE as they can’t fix path finding. Consider this just a path finding change on civ specific level.

LMAO they shuld just give to ### an alt upgrade to the heavy cav archer called Yabusame, Legiannaries and Savarans now exist, time to do the same for cav archers.

That would have been a more logical buff tbh.

Is there any balance change for return of rome in this dlc?

OP wrote Mameluke get 80(90)HP, so that would be:
80+20(25%)+20BL = 120
Have Mamelukes 75HP or 80HP in this new patch?

Pog that looks really huge

I think that is a mistake. If you watch membtv video his patch notes show 65(80) → 75(90)

You missed the biggest set of changes. Persians:

TC and docks work 5% faster in dark age as well
Cavalry produce 5 gold per enemy military unit killed
Parthian tactics available in castle age
Savar replaces Paladin upgrade (1000f, 600g), Fu Savar is 165 hp, 14+4, 3+3/4+4. Not sure about its bonus damage vs archers. Dies 1 hit sooner against camels, but mostly same against other units. But insane against big masses of archers.
Mahouts automatically apply to Persian elephants. New UT turns castle fire into organ gun like bullets, extra damage vs infantry and rams and makes caslte take less bonus damage.

So Devs have gone like “Did we hear Persians are weak?”
