On the Native American side of things, I’d give my right arm for the Haida - one of the most powerful and influential Pacific Northwest Coast tribes. They made wooden full-body armour (which could stop musket balls at range), use daggers and muskets in battle, threw huge stone rings off their canoes to sink other tribes’ canoes, captured European ships, raided coasts like vikings, had Totem poles (which would be great to see as some sort of Experience generating structures) and were in close alliance with other ‘Potlach’ tribes.
Another cool feature they could have is Clam Gardens instead of Farms. They were a form of mariculture among the natives of the Pacific Northwest that consisted of a walled off section of ponds where clams were cultivated.
Villagers could gather from them just like Farms, but if built along the coast, they could also be gathered from by Fishing Boats.
