New Civ concept: the Venetians

Im sure there are mechanics left to try out.

But we can try those mechanics in literally any other water civ? And hipothetical reasons arent reasons for doing something yet

Everything about this game is hypothetical.did we really need any of the civilizations that came with DE?

But arguing that Venetians have a reason to be addef because they can have a unique UU before thinking why it would be unique doesnt make any sense

And you were talking about why we needed them, and either way we shouldnt embrace bad desitions unless we can improve upon them.

We already have sicily in game so why is venice a bad choice?

Like who and what?

Because Sicilians werent a very good odea to begin with. As I said before dont embrace bad ideas just because the devs did something similar.

Moors, Croats or Vandals for exsmple.

Thats not even an argument against having venice. If kingdom of nalpes is ingame so can papal states or venice.

Those civis choices are at the bottom at best.vandals completely went out like huns moors are just arab elites with berber troops coats were under hungarians.

Ok guys, I made this topic in order to discuss a very specific civ design that I made time ago, to see if hypothetically it could work, and to discuss how I design the bonuses following their history.

I never argued, and neither want to discuss, if this civ should be introduced into the game or if this civ take priority over other. In fact, Iā€™m certain that such civ will never get into the game.

Still, discussing about it doesnā€™t hurt, and maybe one day we may get a mod for them. As for discussing if the civ should get into the game or not, this is not the place. We have tons of topics about it, so letā€™s go there.

Venetians are just Goths with Byzantines and have way less to add thsn Moors, Croats or Vandals gameplaywise.

Theres enough recognizable civs that could be used be used before adding the second archer and naval civ from the Italian peninsula. And Sicilians (aka Normans) dont justify appearing in the game. They are basically just a wacky Frank civ with no major aspect of their identity being unable to be represented by Franks in some way outside of the team bonus.

Ok guys listen, does this seem and on-topic argument to you?

Now I already clarify the fact that the discussion of whether the venetians should be in the game or not isnā€™t the topic of this discussion. Does talking about the sicilians seems more on topic?

You are actually lucky. When i proposed Serbian civ design (and some other users also) i was declared: Eurocentrist, biased, discriminatory, nationalist, etcā€¦
Basically every proposed European civ design thread gets locked.

I for one, would like to see Venice civ, and had some suggestion for Adriatic DLC with Venice and Serbia added. But like you i doubt it would be added ever, only as a mod maybe.

Well, one of the first things that I write down on the first post was that I wasnā€™t interested on talking about what civs should be added, and why I was suggesting a civ design, that could be easily used for other civs too.

There arenā€™t much slots for new civs, and most likely they add just 1 more to get to 40.

But there are already ways of making new civs, that substitute the old ones, with mods, and everyone can do it.

Iā€™m just waiting that on the website they add the bonuses that I need for making the venetians.

Wow is this the latest DLC for AoE IV?

I like everything but the gimmicky unique tech.

I get if you feel like that, but I had to get it off my chest because Mahazonaā€™s approach frustrates me deeply

The civ is extremely OP on water, and probably OP on land as well. Their early game is just ridiculous with just the dock bonus on water and the civ has as well 300 more res instantly since the begining of the game as well as with the faster archers. Ethiopians are pretty great on feudal and this civ feels somewhat like an stronger version of that

Venice has goth origins? Do tell me what historically important things the croates did as I genuinely dont know.

Why should it be the same as italty? you have creative freedom to make it anything.

Same goes for you btw. This topic was not who should get added to begin with.

I fail to see why Venetians would be so much different than any of the other Italian Maritime Republics of that age covered by the Italians ?

I said gameplaywise

Thats how 99% of the people design them.

You were the one talking about ā€œeven one more reason to add themā€.

And your way of looking at civs is what frustrates me

I fail to see why you would get frustrated unless you have something personally against venice or italian people.

What can croates or anyone else from europe really add to the gameplay?
