New Civ Icon Idea

Necroing the thread but this is basically the “custom civ icons” thread so I wanted to share the one I made to replace the Xianbei one on the Rename the Three Kingdoms mod, as I didn’t like the one the author used (sorry to whoever created it)

It’s based on this plaque that belonged to the Xianbei culture
“According to the dynastic history of the Wei, they were led into China by a mysterious animal spirit that was shaped like a horse and that bellowed like an ox.”

It’s far from perfect but I personally like it better than the current one from the mod, I’ll try to upload as a mod later

Bruh, can’t edit to add descriptions, so here goes a next post.

  • Andalusians: coat of arms of the Emirate of Grenada atop a green floral decoration
  • Arabs / Bedouins: Hawk of Quraysh within a rub-el-hizb
  • Egyptians: a mamluk shield with a white Hand of Fatima (ancestor of the Fatimid Dynasty) in yellow field (colour of Ayyubids and the Mamluk Sultanate)
  • Iraqis: Spiral Minaret on a black shield
  • Kurds: Kurdish sun
  • Syrians: white shield (colour of the Umayyads and the Kingdom of Jerusalem) with a golden two-headed eagle (Byzantium, Turcomans, Ayyubids)
  • Yemenis: a jambiya and a Himyarite-style shield with Rasulid roses

there’s also a variant with a palm (?) tree!

I would put Iraqis and Syrians togheter as Mashriqis, but thats a bit of a nitpick

With the devs making a Viking split resulting with “Vikings”, “Danes” and “Varangians”, a Saracen split would probably end up with “Saracens”, “Iraqis” and “Mamelukes” :upside_down_face:

But yeah, in the end Syrians are probably the most likely ones to be grouped together with another civ.
