I’m sorry to hear that error came up! If it happens again, then it would be helpful to try the steps in this help section.

If the error keeps coming up during big battles, then let me know and there ar other troubleshooting steps we can try. I hope this helps!

happened to me too, start of the game in dark age for no particular reason. did not have this crash until the most recent update

Just for you to know, i’m having the same issue but only when playing campaigns (currently i’m playing Atiila’s). Never happened in multiplayer games.Bug

Update: It happened many times again, now also in multiplayer games. Lately it also crashes the whole system, making the screen go “no signal”, then i have to restart the pc.

I have this same error. It happens almost every game now, and almost always before I even get to Feudal. The game is unplayable now which really sucks.

POTENTIAL FIX: in options, change display mode from full screen to full desktop.

I have had no more of this particular crash or any other crashes since I did this, before it was crashing 50% of the time, either with this error or no error.

NOTE: The game will automatically change it back when you exit, so you must set it each time you launch AOE.

Making this change did not stop the crashes for me. What are the rest of your graphics settings HuxleyThePig?

Sorry to hear that. I do empathise; the anguish of constant crashing is still fresh in my mind.

My graphics settings:

My specs:
Windows 10 Pro
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz, 2333 Mhz, 4 Core(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 8.00 GB
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 (2GB memory)

Update: After updating my gpu drivers and downloading the las version of visual c++ the game stop crashing several days. I thought the problem was solved and was waiting a few days before making you know for you to try it, just to make sure it worked. Sadly, today it happened again. Twice.

I have the same crash. It happens in multiplayer games, somewhere midcastle age. The game crashed in 4 2v2 games in a row with this error message.

Also started in the beginning of March (I had another crashing issue before), after I had a few days without the crash and today it happens all the time.

Game version 101.101.35584.0 4714640
i7-7700hq
gtx 1060 3gb
16gb ram
Switching the display mode doesn’t help.

In the log file I got another message

IDXGISwapChain::Present: hresult = 0x887a0005, Device lost reason = 0x887a0006
Exception type 0x80000003 occurred at 00007ffd4a1dea6c

UPDATE: also happens randomly in single player and at different times

Hello everyone! To ensure that the obvious solution is ticked off, please be sure to manually update your Visual C++ Redistributables depending using the appropriate files for your Operating System:

If that does not work, please make sure you confirm that you are playing the game on the Windows 10 Operating System. If all else fails, please be sure to check for any Windows Updates, as you may be missing a file needed to run the game.

Let us know if any of those steps work for you!

I’m running into the same problem and error as everyone else

I’ve noticed that quite a few of the people running into issues have 5700 xts.

EDIT: I’d like to add that I just got the game today. Wanted to play with friends, but now I’m considering a refund if it’s going to be this much hassle.

So far I have: Updated gpu drivers. Updated windows. Updated the c++ redistributable. Reinstalled with antivirus turned off. Turned off and on again several times.

With no replication, the game and my computer crash. I can’t get it reliably to happen, sometimes it’s immediate and other times it takes up to ten minutes to crash.

I have the same issue. And im trying to solve this problem exploring the internet for 3 days.

i5-6600k
16GB RAM
1080TI extreme 11GB
SSD 120
SSD 500
HDD 2TB

I changed instalation DISC / downloaded this game ~8 times + installed enchanted graphics

I have installed ± 10 times Microsoft C++ redistribution 2005 - 2019 …
Sound drivers works perfectly>
Graphics 100% actual driver.

This is only one game with problems …

Hi, like many others, I still have the issue even after trying every suggested step.

To help our team diagnose this issue, could everyone affected please upload a copy of their dxdiag.txt as a reply below? i will be passing this information along to our QA folks so they can search for trends or other issues that might be interfering with the game.

Thank you!
