Thank you for the file. I have passed it along to our QA team for review.

HI people,

If I can help you:

I had the same problem than all of you and I thought my drivers were up to date but I finally discover that my integrated graphics card was not.

It didn’t show an error since “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter” had been choose by default.
So I had to install the right driver, wich was the Intel HD 630 one.

Since this last is used for the desktop and the Nvidia is used for the game, I think there was a problem while switching from the game to the desktop.

Hope I could help you, it seems to resolve the problem for me.

@GMEvangelos any news ??? still cannot play the game … :frowning:

I’ve just updated intel, nvidia drivers and redistributable to the latest versions, the crash still happens (randomly as always). Here is my dxdiag.txt (I cannot upload the file since the new users on this forum cannot, so I attach a pastebin link with the contents)

Thank you all for passing me your dxdiag information; I have attached it to our investigation report. The team has requested one other thing that will help them in their investigation:

  • The minidump file that is generated when the title encounters a crash. This file is located in the Local Install Directory for the game and is called "AoE2DE_s.mdmp"

If you can upload the file and provide a link to a OneDrive or Google Drive where it’s stored, I will get this passed along to our QA team.

Thanks again!

I played this game for weeks before it started happening. Wondering if a bad Windows 10 update or something… Started happening to me about a month ago. Thought I was alone. I guess it’s good to know that I am not alone.

Here is the minidump file, thank you for your support

This game is unplayable for me for the past 2 weeks. I have the very same problem, every time mid game, it will crash (sometimes immediately close) and the same pop up comes up (MS Visual C++ assertion failed).

Please resolve this issue, it’s super frustrating to encounter this problem every single multiplayer game!

Here is my minidump

Thank you.

@GMEvangelos , sorry forgot to tag you in the previous post. Do you have any news about the issue?

The game is still crashing 100% of the times for me. I reinstalled everything I could, checked for corrupted files, made sure the pc is using the radeon graphics card, nothing helps.

Thank you

All of my friends are playing AoE DE every night. While I get to sit and watch them from Stream Friends… Guess I’ll play Fortnite until they can figure this out.

Same here. It’s still crashing all the time. Dont know what else to do. :face_with_head_bandage:

So this only started happening to me within the last month. I was playing it every day for a good period of time before this started. I thought about rebuilding my laptop to see if the problem would go away, but man, that would be a lot of work just for a “Maybe”. Because I don’t even know if that would fix it.

I must say thay the fix suggested by HuxleyThePig (Switching to Full Desktop) reduced the reccurence of the crash.
