I gave several Likes for the effort, passion and quality, and because the Roman Empire (“Byzantines”) must be in the game. Hagia Sophia (not “Sancta Sophia”, Roman version of name would be “Sancta Sapientia”) is the greatest building of all time and all ages, much more pivotal than the - roofless - Colosseum. Bring on the flame throwers! Viking mercenaries are looking good too.
But the Romans having cavalry archer as a mainline unit while Ottomans don’t (devs’ fault not yours)?
Maybe adding Robin without Batman to AoE 4 would be less absurd?
Hello, I am so glad that my work can be appreciated by you.
I think I can shed some light on your question. (Sorry, my English level is very average, please don’t pay attention to my grammar details )
1 "Sancta Sophia”This is just a slightly modified name to distinguish it from its real-life counterpart. There may be a better way to make changes, and I will consider making adjustments.
2Mounted cavalry was used to make up for the Byzantines’ lack of logistical firepower.
From what I’ve been able to find, this kind of arrow barrage is more like what English longbowmen would do.
I’m sure much of the community shares your enthusiasm for AoE4 and new civilizations and appreciates your concept. I wish devs would read it and listen to the community more.
Yea. I’m not strictly against Romans having cavalry archer, but Ottomans lacking cavalry archers is more than bizarre, considering the basic design concept of AoE4. The community’s reaction against this was massive and widespread. All that was somehow ignored, and this hurt the game deeply and still continues to hurt it.
Persians is so much more than Sassanids (a world power by itself). Most everyone’s architecture in a 5,000 km radius all comes from Persia. You have huge states like the Buyid and Samanid dynasties, Ghaznavids, the Kwarazm and the powerful and influential Ghurids.
By the time of the fourth age of AoE, (Safavid) Persia was a top 3-5 world power for sure, stalling the Ottomans. And this same major civilization is still very much alive today in Iran, a de-facto major nuclear, supersonic missile, and drone power that has bravely challenged the USA in a struggle for justice in Palestine, Middle East and Central Asia for 60 years and is still standing so proud in 2023!
Persia is its culture, not a king. It’s so much more than a long list of dynasties mixing different peoples, like China too.
Persians is a must not only in AoE4, but in any Age game.
I have thought about how the Aztec and Inca empires might play out in the game, but only in terms of my expertise. It might be a little one-sided. I hope you can give me your valuable advice then.
