It may actually be one of those other animals:
I don’t know if they are/were herded historically, but are smaller than capybaras.

They should also add jaburu (jabiru, might be the bird someone already found in the screenshots)
Edit: they should also add tapirs, especially since those could also be used for SEA maps:
The black-and-white one is the Malayan species, the other three are South American.
Edit 2: pumas coul be added as well. They exist in North and South America.
Persians and Berbers need new ones too, and for Huns I’d use reconstructed proto-Turkic/proto-Mongol if possible. Or Chuvash, which is a common suggestion (and believed by some to be the closest relative of whatever language Huns spoke).
Personally I’d give Huns one of the Yeniseian languages for uniqueness, it was probably spoken by Xiongnu elites.
I feel like tapirs were on the list of animals coming that started the S. America theories in the first place.
They were? I don’t remember that.
Yeah, I just checked it again, and in Zetnus’ video that started all the speculation he mentions tapirs as one of the animals they saw in the files.
These are all animals from Zetnus’ video:
Question marks for Dingo and Caiman, since “Dingos” already appear, but they are just renamed animals (Arabian Wolves), Caimans might be a similar case.
I remember the discussion but I didn’t know about Zetnus’ video.
Tapir could appear as a rhino/elephant equivalent, with more meat and faster attack than javelina. It’s the largest mammal in South America so it’s not like there are many other choices.
It’s strange indeed that puma was not added given that it’s widespread even where jaguars don’t reach (and unlike maned wolf, it attacks people). In a North America DLC you are well served with bears and wolves already.
Yes capybara are not domesticated, but they are edible and incredibly chill in the presence of people. It would also have been more accurate to make them a hare-type animal with deer-like meat instead, but I understand the need for a herdable animal in the Tupi campaign.
Yes, don’t worry, nobody does it, or at least I’ve never seen anyone build one, as it’s very circumstantial… in Dark Age it might be useful to prevent a rush, but it’s better to use that wood for something else (an upgrade, a house, or a camp)… and in Feudal Age it’s simply better to build a tower…
Yes, that would be amazing, plus they’re super iconic in AoE 3 (you almost feel bad hunting them and prefer to keep them as pets grazing around the map)… my dad had a capybara as a pet and they’re kind of shy, but it’s like having a giant hamster the size of an average dog…
We have probably not seen every new asset yet, so there could still be more animals. The accidentally leaked animals might not reflect later development of the DLC.
I assume there will be a “wild” Capybara as well, just like with the Chicken.
In the screenshots seen so far, there isn’t any aggressive huntable. Ideally, there will be both a Tapir and a proper Javelina.
Honestly that picture only makes me feel like it was a missed oportunity to not add the Chimu/Aymara/Diaguita
Because it looks soo good, but its so Andine
You are still hoping for the Persian architecture change, dont lie to me
I think the wonder may be connected to the ritual that inspired the El Dorado
So do you and everyone else. 11
The Guecha warrior is carrying a mummy on his back. I hadn’t noticed that before.
Yeah, the Gecha warriors are carrying their “friends” in their back. Is a tradition, and every time one of them die, another carry their body in their back.
Maybe for that reason the bonus of healing when one of them day, LOL!
These units are awfully blurry to see.
