I.e. you’re talking out of your ass and Isgreen never said that.
Caster mode (improved observer overlay)
The little flags that show up when you shift+queue move orders
Improved zoom levels (they extended it twice I think)
Minimap scaling
Fully customizable hotkeys
definitely there were positive things, like placement assist, or waypoint queing for buildings just of the top of my head
I’d like to see something like Home City from AoE 3 added, but without the card deck system. You would level up your civilization and use points to “buy” beautifiers for your metropolis. Home City would be something like a menu background (which in my opinion is unintuitive and ugly). The menu needs a major overhaul.
Function for combat unit, Attack function, and non-attack function!
Yes, it’s a joke… 3 years to multiplayer pause botton and only 1 cheat that is also from another game like AoE 1!!! AoE 4 should have come out with 10 cheats at launch…
Yes probably 2 civs (Spanish and Vikings or Incas) and 4 variants for:English (Angevins), Rus (Moscow/Novgorod), Mongols (Tatars) and Delhi (Ghurids)…
It is probably a campaign for Delhi or Chinese…or else Malians or Ottomans…the TSA campaign was played with the Abbasids/Ayyubids…
Yes, at least they should give you a menu or something so that they allow you to unlock something as you level up…in AoE 3 you have the Home City and in Online the Capital (in fact, for doing the Trojan War mission, they give you the Trojan Horse to put in your city, which is awesome)…
You also need to realize, and you probably can’t because you’re just a hater, that AoE4 was a much more ambitious project in other aspects of production.
No, not at all. In fact, I’ve played the entire game since it came out and the anniversary edition, and I still think it has a lot of potential… but the slowness in releasing new content and updates is killing it… I say this from a constructive criticism perspective and I want it to do well, even though I don’t really like the Middle Ages too much…
If not, AOEIV is ruined man.
Season 10 with new Civs and variants
Yep. These are small things that eventually add up to a bigger problem.
AoE 4 was released too early imho. They should’ve waited until Season 1 in March 2022.
Btw, can we stop calling people “hater” for bringing up valid points? No one denies that AoE 4 was very ambitious in other aspects such as sound design which is hands down the best the series has.

If we admit it was more ambitious in other aspects, we can then be more lenient about it having the same amount of features from day 1, as long as they’re getting added. The market is not the same as it was 15 years ago. There’s much more pressure on devs, and games get released in unfinished states. I’m trying to think about a triple A game that’s not been released in this state during the past few years, apart from maybe the Japanese ones, which is a different market and work culture.
Regarding the hater comment, if they’re allowed to spam the forums and repeatedly express “disappointment” 3 years after release, on every single thread about the game, I should be allowed to call them by name. Otherwise moderation is also subjective and based on who we share opinions with.
This forum is filled with players of older games that continually trash talk AoE4, so maybe we need new moderators that weren’t here before AoE4, to moderate this forum.

In theory, yes but don’t you think that adding a MP pause (something not only AoE but also Blizzard RTS have) three years later is something that should not happen in first place?
Or still not having Active Pause for SP which shouldn’t be too much of an issue given that CoH 3 that runs on the same engine as AoE 4 has it?

The problem is not differentiating between real ‘hate’ comments and sincere criticism. If we dismiss comments from disappointed players as dull hate just because they want to improve AoE 4 based on their experience with other Age games by expressing their disappointment, we will be standing still in the long run.

Or maybe just add more moderators that are familiar with AoE 4.
If you encounter any ‘hate’ comment, feel free to send it to us to review by flagging it because we realistically can’t monitor the forums 24/7 and if posts don’t get flagged, they slip through.

You yourself listed the amount of features that have been added in 3 years, while they were working on DLC, balance, and bug fixes. As long as features get added, the game will get there eventually. SC2 lacked a lot of features at launch as well, and it was developed by a company whose entire mantra was about releasing it when it’s ready (and with a completely different budget). It only had red and blue colors for players for a very long time for instance. Relic is not Blizzard of 2000-2010, and neither is Forgotten Empires. They started working on SC2 right after releasing WC3 Frozen Throne, which is a legendary RTS, and developed it for a good 7 years, not 4 years. I personally dislike MP Pause and didn’t want it, or thought it’s a required feature, apart from Custom games. Active Pause in SP is also not necessary in a real time game.

There are two things here. If MP pause had been prioritised in development, something else would’ve suffered. Maybe the MP crowd don’t care, but I’d rather not the SP experience, or even the neat Art of War intro missions, be compromised for the sake of even more MP support (which has also benefitted from a lot post-release to boot - moreso I’d say than the SP community has).
(“just give the game more budget” doesn’t work here as a) this isn’t up to the developers and b) in that hypothetical MP pause would have to be compared to anything else they could’ve used that budget for - like modding support out of the gate for example)
The second thing is that CoH 3 isn’t on the same engine. They’re on Essence, but not the same version. Just as CoH 2 isn’t on the same engine. There are substantial differences between each game (and a bunch of technical similarities, no doubt) - speaking as someone pretty familiar with them.
On top of that, the CoH 3 team developed active pause in-house after AoE IV had actually been released (or around the same time - long after content lock for AoE IV). Does that mean it’s impossible? Of course not. But we can’t say that it “won’t be too much of an issue”.
I’m happy to see a DLC coming. I think Vikings and a Mesoamerican civ are very real possibilities. IVs civ design will complement a Meso civ quite well. Of course, there will be a new campaign but I’d love Historical Battles added with co-op for both modes. HBs would be a great thing to add for us singleplayer folk.
One thing I appreciate about IVs DLCs vs DEs DLCs is the fact that they’re looser in terms of civ choices. All the DE DLCs have been based on geographical location which certainly helps with the theme but that quirky randomness is sacrificed. Both have their merits. I’m glad there is still an AoE that fills in that gap.

I expect them to start supporting SP more once there is enough content in the game to keep SP players engaged. Like they are doing currently with AoE2. In AoE4 even more so, they won’t be able to add tens of civs, so at some point they’ll have to start focusing on SP. But right now there’s just very little to do as a SP enjoyer, so they’re focusing on the modes that have higher retention rate and adding features for those people.

I’m a simple man, I see CO-OP, I upvote.
