I think it’s the treasure towers upgrade. Passive income for sure, I was thinking there was some kind of automatic trade route esque system in place with the pilgrims, maybe increases the resources they get from each trip?

So they improve units range, number of pilgrims (whatever that means), and has some upgrades we know nothing about. The potentially exciting aspects of this civ are left out. I’m sure that will convince a lot of people to preorder the DLC…

Also feudal keeps! Might make their gameplay pretty disruptive to the meta if they can set up fortified positions around the map. Curious to see how defensive their playstyle is, like if they get bigger bonuses from the fortresses being placed further away from each other.

Defensive? Imagine the tower rush potential, with stronger towers and extra range. I hope it’s a tier 2.5 thing where you have to research something first, or train a unit that has to build it.

I’m thinking at least starting from feudal age up. They have only three pictures present, and since we can build more than one I’m thinking it’s not a landmark either… if it has a similar cost to a keep it will take too long to go up to be useful in feudal aggression even without other special conditions.

Trebuchet emplacement as well as springald, so no cannon emplacement? Does this mean an early/midgame power spike with poorer defenses in the late game? Or will this help counter any siege firing at it?

Only two weeks until we get to test it ourselves!

Feudal up is guaranteed, but hopefully something extra that discourages Fortress rushes.

This picture confirmed it’s a special building, not a Landmark, since it’s saying ā€œeach Fortress increases the number of pilgrimsā€. I expect the civ to not have Landmarks, since you pick between 3 unit types at your Town Center and a little flag is raised.

I don’t think it’s gonna have the same cost as a Keep, because then it makes no sense for it to be available in Feudal. No one would build it. The only exception would be if the Pilgrim bonus is very valuable, making it worth paying 900 resources for it in Feudal, which is more expensive than a 2nd TC.

Cannon is an Imperial Age emplacement.

Usually emplacements are different from their siege unit counterpart, so we don’t know if the Treb emplacement is weaker than the Cannon. I am a bit concerned about its potential to deny other Keeps in an area, without needing to build siege units. Hopefully it’s balanced and not going to be toxic in terms of area control. At first glance it’s like having an insanely hard to kill Treb. You’re also highly encouraged to spam them, since they’re also your eco bonus (the pilgrim thing).

I’m still not sold on the DLC. Looking to learn more about the Pilgrim mechanic, which is the only thing so far that has the potential to sell the civ to me, depending on how it’s implemented. I like inspiring mechanics that fit well with the theme of the civ. Bonus points if it involves UI elements such as displaying the current number of Pilgrims, and if you have to defend them while they do their pilgrimage to the Sacred Sites.

We’ve got the official flag designs for the 2 new civs coming in the expansion!

When does the NDA expire?

On game release typically, but it depends on the terms and conditions of NDA.

Which NDA? Or are we talking more about a content embargo? Are either relevant here?

Thanks, I thought it was public information. I’m short on time and want to plan ahead to see the DLC content.

Today they dropped some info on 2 House of Lancaster unique units!

Meet some of the unique units coming with #AOEIV - Knights of Cross and Rose!

The Lords of Lancaster boost nearby allies’ health, and the Demilancer dominates the frontline with durability and damage.

With one of the achievements for HoL requiring 4 lords boosting the army at once we could be looking at a scaling buff of +5-20% max HP!

Excited to learn more about the demi-lancers as well. This new faction is giving Warhammer Brettonia vibes.

Another video to add to the pile!

A very short video that covers some of the features seen in historical battles!

Some of the details I found interesting:

  • Full cutscenes for each of them, similar in style to Sultan’s Ascend
  • In the same section of the menu as the Art of War missions
  • This House of Lancaster unit appears to use a spear on charge, and then swap to sword for close up attacks:

Could be their equivalent of a horsemen, giving them at least 3 combat cavalry units!

I hoped the 4 Lords did different things, it would have been such a cool concept to center the civ around. But they’re more like Bannermen.

An NDA usually never expires unless revoked by the publisher. That’s why you e.g. still can’t talk about the content and state of the game from the closed beta in 2021 ^^

You meant embargo instead

Got it, thanks for the explanation! It was a misguided question due to lack of knowledge. Even to ask you have to know the basics lol. In fact, I was just looking for more or less a date, so I could stay tuned.

Very interesting. I’m excited for the DLC and the patch notes. Judging by the teaser, the patch should bring a lot of cool features.
