If the Chola Empire ever comes, my friend, I’ll almost have a heart attack from happiness. LOL I hope they do =D
Taking advantage of the possibility of civilizations that don’t use gunpowder…
I would like to see, if possible, an African civilization that used war elephants in the medieval period. I only found a record of one, which is the following:
Axumite Empire (Empire of Axum), (1st Century – 960 AD) They were the last in their region to use war elephants. It was a kingdom in East Africa and Southern Arabia from Classical Antiquity to the Middle Ages, based in what is now northern Ethiopia.
Really appreciate the new animations to Crossbows, Spearmen and Horsemen. There might be more, we’ll see when the patch drops, but big props to the developers for fleshing out animations for clarity and for immersion!
Crossbow units now utilize the little gadget to load bolts by spinning rapidly, theres two versions of this animation (Castle and Imperial). Should help differentiate them from ZGN.
Horsemen have a much more responsive and longer reaching stab when attacking, there has been some change to Handcannoneer loading too. I might be wrong but it felt as though Spearmen had some new charge animations.
I’m sure theres a lot more. See KP, Beasty or Drongo’s new videos for reference.
They went ham on the unique units, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Up until now, a lot of the uniqueness was in the macro aspects of each civ, which doesn’t force the opponent to have to know too many details about the opposing civ. I think this is fine for a few civs, but not a sustainable direction if they are to add a lot of civs. New players coming into the game would be overburden with stuff they need to know about what they’re facing.
YES, the REAL reason for delaying Season 10 to April 8th was simply because if not, it would have began at April Fools’ Day. So, just so people don’t think the DLC release was a joke, it was delayed.
I bought the DLC for 12 euros. I think it’s worth the asking price after finally being able to see what’s in it, instead of those little snippets of info. I think marketing it like that was a bad call in the context of knowing that they are variant civs, which is not something that gets me excited for sneak peeks, i.e. they should have tried much harder to show the interesting stuff. And they should have definitely advertised what was coming in the free update.
Yeah, nothing wrong with waiting to preorder (or deciding not to purchase at all). This will probably be consistent in the future, ie we hear about a DLC coming in a loose time frame (like Spring 2025 or Winter 2025), then get the basic premise a month or two out, and finally we get actual details on exactly what it is 1-2 weeks prior to launch.
That much has been consistent across the entire franchise for a while now.
One thing I can really appreciate about their work is you don’t need to purchase anything to access things like black riders.
I’m absolutely stoked for what they’ve shown… can’t wait to see those patch notes!
