SOTL said there is a big patch coming out with the DLC. WE got +33% speed boost for free. So let’s hope.
The new civs look amazing.
Some of the bonusses are a bit too gimmicky for my personal ###### ### they also got some really interesting ones. Also looks like they indeed took a lot of inspiration from the forum, like almost all the bonusses were at some point similarly presented here somewhere.
Really nice stuff!
The only way to beat Armenians is to defeat them before Castle Age. And that’s the time for Dravidians to shine. Now that’s how devs are balancing Dravidians.
Man Monaspa looks too strong, they can beat Boyars and Konniks in equal resources.
WHat about the proto steppe lancer?
I can’t see how fortified monastery isn’t going to be exploited… a TC HP and attack lvl without the stone cost… plus can train warrior monks and, of course, monks… Totally OP I think…
I’m not sure how I feel about the Fortified Churches personally. They cost only 200 wood, so you could place them aggressively. It should really cost some Stone at the very least, or you’ll just start seeing players placing them everywhere late-game. Sure, it has only 6 range (doesn’t seem like it’ll be improved), but it costs no Stone.
The scorpion effect on Towers also seem broken. And that’s besides everything else being very strong as well. In particular, I don’t really like any of the new unique techs - they’re very loaded in effects. Armenians basically get two new UTs that are like 2-3 effects combined into one. It’s something I’ve noticed them doing with most of the newer techs, f.e. Chieftains also have the same problem where it gives your infantry bonus damage against cavalry and makes them generate gold on eco kills.
Every new bonus is very shiny and appealing, but they start feeling out of place of the AoE2 style of civ designs. You can see the pattern of civ design getting more bloated and bloated with new effects as new DLCs have been launched. And every new civ needs to be even more flashier and shinier, because otherwise it’ll look dull and boring in comparison to the other new civs.
At least composite bows still die properly to Huskarls but damn Huskarls are left with very low HP and less than half numbers lol.
BE speed increased from 0.85 → 0.88.
Yes finally Bengalis and Dravidians are OP. 11
Im now scared of Khmer battle eles
It’ll be like a weaker version of Slinger against Huskarl. Nearly the same damage (8 vs 11 as far as I understand), and Slinger has more range (but idk about fire rate and stuff).
Still, the unit feels obnoxious and sort of a worst-case scenario of a unit out of the ones the forums were guessing from the leaks. I’d rather take a charge ability that ignores armor over this. 4 isn’t even that little.
Just remove Husbandry. With Khmer, then Romans and now Georgians, Slavs don’t have any place in the game.
Slavs will get back the 15% faster working farmers
Can’t wait to see them broken again…like they were before DE.
Persians not using Central Asian architecture is so bugging!
SotL still shows persians with the Middle Eastern architecture set.
No Central Asian set? That was one of the most requested changes, and a clear consensus in the community
Besides the Mule Carts and the Georgian Aznauri everything seems to be a variation of previous bonuses and both of them aren’t particularly flashy.
It’s basically a TC that only costs Wood.
Which is pretty much like TC in vanilla AoK before AoC.
There is a reason why they added a Stone cost.
I think 150 Wood 50 Stone would be a fair balance.
So half as much Stone as a TC and almost half as much Wood.
There are already other civs with very strong Towers (Japanese and Koreans) and they aren’t OP either.
More range is probably more useful then more damage in many cases and pass through damage is only useful if the enemy floods your towers with many units.
Time to revert following bonuses so that old civs can compete -
- Franks foragers work 25% faster again.
- Mayans resource lasts 20% longer again.
- Aztecs villagers now carry +5 resources again.
- Folwark now gives 10% food from farm again.
- Hindustanis Camel rider fires 25% faster again.
- Huns CA are 20%/30% cheaper in Castle/Imperial again.
- Britons range works +20 faster again.
And since Dravidians and Bengalis obviously need nerf for their ultra monster buff on BE,
- Bengalis get 1 villager from TC when age up.
- Dravidians get 150 wood from age up.
Nope, they get nothing. Check out Memb’s video about the balance changes.
Yep, that’s the biggest issue. We might be going back to the era of teuton death balls. These things needs to cost at least 100 stone, to be balanced.
Or, just think about it, you can spam these in castle age, especially in nomad maps. It’s beyond ridiculous.
This is the issue. Also, assume you have a bit of a meat shield in front of the archers.
This is garbage design. You are literally taking away things that other civs have by this bonus. Every anti-archer UU is now significantly weaker.
Also, think about team games. You have knights in the front, these things in the back. How do you counter that?
Bro, the Armenians are gonna be a broken Feudal war civilization, kind of like the Cumans and Gurjaras.
War Elephant attack bonus vs standard building is increased 7, 10 → 30.
Yay. Only way to balance the game to make everything broken.
