Maybe the Composite Bowman works like the Obuch, taking off 1 pierce armor for each hit.
Well. Here is my attempt for a theoretical balance
Armenians don’t have TR and Bracer.
Cost - 35W/40G
TT - 16 sec
HP - 35, 40
Armor - 0/0
Attack - 2, 3
Range - 4
ROF - 3.0
Accuracy - 70%, 80%
Frame Delay - 45
Attack Delay - 1.0
Xbow deals 3 damage to knight, kills it in 68 seconds requiring 40 shots.
Composite Bowman will deal 4 damage to knight, kills it in 90 seconds requiring 30 shots.
Arbalester deals 4 damage to Cavalier, kills it in 60 seconds requiring 35 shots.
Elite Composite Bowman will deal 6 damage to Cavalier, kills it in 72 seconds requiring 24 shots.
Arbalester deals 3 damage to Paladin, kills it in 102 seconds requiring 60 shots.
Elite Composite Bowman will deal 6 damage to Paladin, kills it in 90 seconds requiring 30 shots.
Basically an Elite Skirms that has an invisible Obuch in front.
so many questions?
The Priest Worrier can pick up Relic. Can be strong on Arena for relic fights.
where do you think you can train him? Church or barracks ?
Will this be a core unit or a support unit.?
Healing in mass can be powerful.
The Card look like a drop pf ponit for wood, stone, gold,. not for food.
Will they have normel drop off Buildings too?
where do you think you can train him? TC, mill, or buildable at villager.
what are this for buildings? Campain only ?
I am so disappointed that there is no Khazars as the 3rd civilization or Azerbaijanis(Turkmenis) civilization which would be the real representation for the Ismail campaign.
No player color so probably eye candies for scenario editor only
Same, would have prefered getting Khazars/Azeris as the second civ. It would have been more different.
In that theoretical statement, I was expecting the rest of the stats to be roughly equal to other archer units and UUs in the game.
Your balance works, kinda. But you’ve reduced the fire rate to 3 from 2 for crossbows and other general units. But there are other problems. In my preliminary opinion (without any testing/number crunching), your unit is still extremely strong against high PA units like huskarls and eagles. It might also be far too good against skirms. I don’t think that works for balance.
Rethinking, roughly 15-20 of your archers will one-shot a huskarl/eagle/ghulam. That’s a no-no. This isn’t balanced.
Still, not a good idea. Consider this unit against a huskarl. A generic archer does 1 damage to a huskarl. Something like mayan plumes does 2. Elite husarl has 70 HP. Assuming roughly equal stats as a cross bow, the damage of the shots for one huskarl is 1+1+1+2+3+4+5+6+… So, roughly 15-20 of these will one shot a huskarl. That’s not good imo.
An Archer ignoring armour could work if it’s attack is not affected by blacksmith upgrades.
It would definitely be a very strong units against Huskarls and similar units for sure.
Any information about the new green building, in the green vs purple screenshot?
EDIT: It’s Minaret of Jam which was introduced in Dynasties of India, purely decorative, scenarios-editor-only building, nothing new
I thought it was caravanserai, but it actually looks completely different:
The tower next to it is also a part of that building, there are two same buildings in that screenshot and both of them have the same tower in the same place.
Still, it’s possible for Tatar caravanserai, or scenarios editor-only building, otherwise, it would make no sense to have two similar-looking buildings but with different function
It’s the Minaret of Jam which was introduced in Dynasties of India:
Thanks, never seen it before and thought it was new
Thanks for the appreciation. IamKnightfury added the page and most screenshots, I enhanced those and added details about them, and @risegarro added the expanded cover photo!
How did you know CA+SL picture is for Tatars?
Wikia has no more information than we do.
Also the screenshot with the Central Asian architecture shows Ismail in it (The Persian campaign leader). It’s the Persians.
The shot of the South Asian Architecture is just Kabul, the layout is identical apart from the mosque.
If you look at the new lancer unit, it has the same bridle, horses’ mane, tassels, saddle-cloth and lance-tip as the Steppe Lancer. It’s a pre-evolution of the Steppe lancer.
The likely reason no War Elephants are in the shots is because by both Babur and Ismail’s time, they had fallen out of favour in Persian armies.
Well, with Georgians and Armenians out of the way, can the next DLC actually be set in Africa now? 11
A higher price for just two civs (and one rework I guess?) is a worrying sign, though I suppose it follows the trend of… everything being more expensive. Still not really something that entices me to buy it for full price, though.
Dynasties of India is at 10 euros like DotD and LotW right now, wasn’t that at a higher price at launch as well? Otherwise, a two civ DLC at a higher price (15 euros was it?) just feels even more stingy compared to DoI.
I do wonder what the Composite Bowman mechanics are. Charge attacks thus far have only been for melee units and were balanced around only having few units at most attack one enemy unit at once. I feel like if they do end up having a ‘charge’ attack mechanic, you’ll be required to micro them much differently compared to your usual ranged units, but it’ll still feel absurdly OP. Unless they have a very small attack otherwise. The naming also feels a little… uninspired? Weren’t Composite Bows used pretty widely across the world?
I have explained at the wiki article now
Thanks for pointing it out, I have noticed something - the Central Asian Architecture has a lancer hero whereas the Indian Architecture has a camel hero
Another thing I realised is that the Armenian infantry-monk is present in a Georgian screenshot in the same color, which can mean that stating it is an Armenian unit is a goof up
The promo images often mix and match units. The DoI ones showed Gurjaras with Battle Elephants for example.
Actually the Central Asian one has a cavalry archer hero. You can spot him very close to the castle. His horse is the same colour as all the others, and is wearing a similar white turban to the pre-Steppe Lancers, so he does blend in a bit.
And the camel hero is Babur. As the shot is the same image of Kabul from his campaign, and it’s the same model as him.
Why does the South Asian one have the Persian wonder in it though and also Sogdian Cataphracts?
Also there is no confirmation the the person on the screenshot is Ismail.
Maybe there will be a rework for both Tatars and Persians.
The Tatars kinda represent late Persia in AoE2 since they also represent the Timurids.
I don’t think there will be a Persia split since nothing indicates that.
The old DLCs where all 10 USD and apparently the new ones will be 15 USD from now on.
That is probably mostly because inflation and doesn’t represent more content.
They can’t keep selling DLCs for the same price forever when the salaries off their stuff, the rent of their offices, server costs and everything else rises.
I wish they would add Composite (and Reflex) Bowman as generic/regional units to the game.
Large parts of the world did not use Crossbows at all.
Because it’s of Kabul, which had that building in Babur’s second level. The heavy cavalry unit (which are not the Sogdian Cataphract model) are likely there to be shown off. A lot of the older promo images mixed and matched stuff just for visuals.
It’s Ismail because it looks like his artwork.
I didn’t mention a Persian split.
