Yeah, this is nothing wrong with being Eastern European, but we simply dont like that. We took inspirations from West, East, and South equaly.
What is the source of the images? Thanks
Lets be honest. Belonging to a given religion is also belonging to its culture. Catholicism is a Western culture. Orthodoxy is an Eastern culture.
Poland was a stronghold of Catholicism. Orthodoxy in the east and Islam in the south. Later on, Protestants appeared.
The baptism of Poland in the Catholic rite meant Poland’s entry into the world of Western culture. Hence, Poland is a western country. The Eastern Orthodox lands of the PLC were a kind of colony for Poles. They were backward and sparsely populated areas.
We, Poles, feel like Western Europeans. We are definitely culturally closer to Germans, Brits and Spaniards than to Russians. For us, modern Russia is Mongolia.
I think it’s mostly just that slavic people are generally considered to be eastern european, and Polish people are slavic, thus Polish people are considered Eastern European by everyone (except for Poland itself, I guess)
I guess two new civ
1.poland new stable units imperial hussar?
2.Bohemia new siege workshop Hussite Fort?maybe castle unique units Hussite Fort?
The game can call them Moldavians, Wallachians, Vlachs or whatever else.
I think Romanians are the simplest name for this civ. In campaigns, they may be called Moldovans, Transylvanians, and Wallachians, but as civs, they would simply be Romanians. The best solution. Better such names than, for example, Moldovans, and then hear that people want Wallachians because they are not in the game …
Better to use such names.
I have seen some Serbs that dont consider Serbia in Eastern EU They say they are in Western Balkans thats not East EU. Croats consider Croatia to be central EU but consider Serbia to be Eastern EU as for them Serbia is in Central Balkans. Slovenians get as much offendet to be called Eastern Europeans as Poles and Czechs do. Most Austrians consider everything east of them as East EU, while some Germans consider Austria to be East. Most Westeners consider everything on the other side of Germany East, while for some even Germany is more Eastern than Western.
After the WW2 during the cold War West/East has been more of a political turm than geographical.Thats why some contries dont like to be called East. USSR and their allies were the East the Rest the West. Now in 21st century evereyone has their own perspective and thats fine. Regardless I think Poland, Bohemia and any Balkan country are East enough to be considered in Eastern European expansion. In case they feel they are not East enough Georgia and Armenia can only be happy about that. 11
There was no romanians during the middle ages right.
In my eyes it is wrong because it creates equalness between Czechs, Poles etc and Russians. Especially for current political representation of Russia it means its their playground…
It also says something like those nations are sub-russian cultures or influenced by Russia. In fact it should be central Europe due to heavy historical influence of German and western culture in general. Wiki says more - just look for central Europe.
Hussite fort should be really the fort - a defensive deployable structure with free slots for units. Maybe it could be designed to create some units.
But factually incorrect. It would be like including the Maori, and then calling the civ New Zealand
Shouldn’t matter for a game that is set centuries in the past. People need to take their politics and shove it… seriously. It’s a game.
I think, the important civs from the time period of Aoe 2 ( 400-1400 AD) are already included in Aoe 2 Definitive Edition.
But if somebody at Microsoft want to add fictional civs, they may add a USA civ at Aoe 1 and Aoe 2, how USA and Joe Biden defeat Asians and Africans. At Aoe 1, there are only few civs.
Its not just a game. The game is played by people and can create their opinion. Its a different topic so I will not continue in it here
It’s literally a game lol. If you feel like you need to apply current politics to a game set in the middle ages, you’re reading way too much politics and need to think whether it’s healthy to be so consumed by it.
Those images are from the game Europa Universalis 4
I just want to type 11 but there is min character requirement
I have seen a guy here who was arguing about Indien I guess and to support his argument he copied here a map from CK3 like it would be from Encyklipedia Britannica.
Tell me about the game perception
Yeah, I dont like it when people get very political about a game. Like come on, where in history do you see Mayans battling it out in Arabia against Koreans?
I dont understand you what you mean.
The point was about Easter x Western x Central Europe.
