I have been playing against the extreme AI for years. I usually play 2vs2 with one AI on my side. These are usually relaxed game, but I often faced strong timing (big armies before the 10 minute mark). The 2 AI also used to attack the same player at the same time.
Since the Baltic update, I find the AI to be way easier. It makes small attacks that are easy to repel. I find it too easy now, and I think I will be forced to play 2vs3.
Does anyone else noticed the extreme AI was getting easier and less intersting to play against since the Baltic update ?
Well no I find quite the opposite

On my side, I noticed that the AI got a lot easier with some civilizations (the Ottomans, for example), and the Portuguese got harder to beat. Did you play against the AI during the beta?

Intresting I am not the only one to find that. I noticed that ottoman and swedes are way easier than before. Ottoman used to do strong timings.
Yes I played two 1v1 games against the AI during the beta, and I tought it offered more challenge. I am starting to wonder if my teamates are now better, so that I don’t have to do all the job by myself. I will need to do more 1vs1 to find out.
I felt the same thing during the beta. The AI was much harder to beat. Then it became much less intelligent on naval maps, even though it worked pretty well during the beta. I made a post about this AI deterioration post-beta. List of bugs encountered
The AI from my experience is actually harder overall.
I feel the AI is more “aggressive”’ then before for lack of a better word and that makes some more dangerous then others.
China for some reason really likes flamthrowers now and do catch people off guard early if they dont have enough cav to fend it off and they can eat ur base really early
India likewise also really likes siege elephants.
During the beta they would be more relenteless and in some cases had perfect skirm micro but they probably removed that again cause oh boy that kinda made all heavy infantry meaningless.

You’re right to bring this up, because I find that the AI produces too much artillery for very few infantry/cavalry units toward the end of the game.
