In February, as part of the New Year New Age event, we announced a DLC for Age of Empires III: DE, coming later in 2024. Due to team bandwidth and the number of projects across the franchise, this DLC has been pushed out to a later date.
We understand that this will be disappointing for those of you who have been excitedly waiting for news. This decision was not made lightly and is based on the bandwidth of the entire Age team across World’s Edge and our partner studios.
We will however be releasing a new update for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition. This will go live at 10am PT on October 24th and adds quality of life updates and balance changes.
A big thank you to all of you who continue to play Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition and its existing DLCs.
The wait is coming to an end guys!

To be fair, because they’re working AoMretold patches and dlcs planned, understandable. I prefer good quality dlc, not rush.
I can’t wait to see the patch, hopefully QoL from AoMretold.

Exactly.
And well, at least it`s some information and communication

What happened to aoe3? This is the beginning of the end

The only age game not shown at red bull was aoe3, dlc is delayed, there’s no communication, there no roadmap, no plans, it’s the least played game of the franchise, the executives care about numbers, there’s so much potential but it’s a shame they don’t believe in the game

Your comment is very wrong my friend.
There is an update for this month and at least they said that the DLC will be delayed (not removed)
So don’t worry, I’m not asking you to put aside your pessimism, but at least let the rest enjoy.
Thanks in advance.

It is the third most played. AOM-R has not yet stabilized enough to draw conclusions.

If its not stabilized yet it means it’s the third out of 3
I wonder what phase of production these DLC are in at the moment?
It would be nice if an additional third civ was added to this DLC… it would also be a reference to the recently deceased AoE 3 Legacy which had DLCs with three civs.

I think for the quality of the DLC, I can totally accept it. As long as there is communication, I think most players will understand. The most terrible thing is that there has been no news.
Considering that our developers are scheduled for maintenance and DLC production in the mythology, we may not be able to expect the game to be updated as frequently as it was before the mythology was started two years ago without a substantial expansion of the studio.

AoE 3 DE, despite its not-so-long-standing existence, can boast of several great mods that are like DLCs… maybe a good solution would be to hire the best modders?

I don’t think it’s easy if consider some realistic factors. If Microsoft, or the worlds edge, had any intention of expanding the studio, they would have done so long ago. But judging from the current situation that new content has been delayed, they just don’t do that, which shows that even if they lose their integrity in the player community, they still think that the current number of workers should not be expanded.

It’s not easy being a red-headed stepchild.

i mean, it wasn’t at any prior red bull and even though 1 month post release aom has less activity than aoe3 did at the same point despite aom having the higher peak player count . . . still no love for aoe3
but doesn’t mean game is dead, it has been steady

I feel relieved they’re not rushing out this DLC and actually care enough to give the devs more time to make it the best it can be. This year has been a disappointment but I see no negative to this. Let the devs cook.

I think that by the time they showed the revolutionary flags, some kind of prototype already existed.
