What it this is DLC 7 and DLC 5 will be lost forever!
In the end it’s just a number.
In theory Forgotten Empires is busy with Retold and AoE 3 DLCs…so it will probably be another Chronicles DLC from CaptureAge (Chronicles of Macedonia now)…
Meanwhile, AoE 3 had its DLC announced almost a year ago and still nothing… except that it has been postponed to an unknown date.
AoM DLC adding Chinese civ (which has a trailer!) still has no release date - where now is the perfect time to release this DLC in celebration of Lunar New Year.
AoE 4 is supposed to have new DLC this year but there is silence.
But of course AoE 2 as a cash cow and the only object of interest that the WE side receives more than enough content. It’s a shame that no one from WE is interested in the remaining games in this series.

Unlikely. Too soon after the last one to have worked on another 21-ish campaign levels. Remember that Battle for Greece started work at least before V&V did. They would want to see how well Battle for Greece fared before 100% greenlighting more.
Plus there have been no multiplayer DLCs for over a year now.

Its not adding Chinese. Its RE adding. Itd be like if DE charged for all the expansions since the lucky forgotten lucky fan-fiction ideas were allowed to come to life
Its a Chronicles Expansion, they have a lot of work done through the mod

It could be, but it would be a stretch, although Kanem and Nubians (Sudanese) could be interesting…
Doing a quick check, the mythological Phoenix has tie-ins to ancient Greece, Egypt, and Persia. If that’s the tie-in, I think Egypt is the most relevant of the three. I’d be shocked if they do something more with Persia this quickly after Mountain Royals, and I don’t see them doing anything with Greece given we already have the Byzantines.
It could also be a reference to the phoenix’s trait of dying and being re-born again, which one could say points to China with its many dynasties passing and being replaced, or perhaps some other civilization that had a penchant for fading and then regaining its glory or power (which could also tie back in to the Middle East with the various caliphates that took over and replaced each other in the first few hundred years of Islam.
That’s the codename for the base game. Nothing to see there.

Here we go, again everyone is going to guess China, Balkan, America or another Italian town based civs. In the end, they’ll give some cosmetic campaign stuff, chronicles or integrate aoe3 this time. Anyways the usual release time is 10 weeks, so for those who are hyped, don’t expect any announcement until late March. Maybe they announce after The Garrisons tournament is over.
If it’s a Balkan DLC, I hope they add another architecture set. We don’t need more Mediterranean bloat.
