I’m not sure if you meant to post this given what just happened to AoE3…but WOOF
This game has already desecrated enough by World’s Edge, at least let it die peacefully. Only that, please
Ease up on the melodrama, Aside from victors and vanquished the DLCs so far have been pretty great. I understand if the news about AOE 3 is affecting you but lashing out at AOE 2 doesn’t fix that
I’m not lashing out on aoe2.
What are you talking about, I have not critized a single DLC
You said they “desecrated” it, I assumed you were talking about AOE2. If not ignore what I said
No, I really meant the persistent bad treatement of aoe3 and community by World’s Edge (not by the devs, just in case) for years now, this was just the final nail in the coffin.
My mistake. All in all I share your feeling on the AOE3 situation, the studios radio silence across the series is baffling to me.
The entire communication policy is simply baffling. But with aoe3 is even worse. I could go on with the entire history of how little public appreciation has WE shown towards aoe3 over the year, but I think the entire Baltic DLC already speaks for itself.
Jan 2024: DLC announcement, Further details next month
Feb 2024: A total of 20 seconds for aoe3 in a 2-hr stream. Only info about the DLC is literally two flags.
Feb-Oct 2024: radio silence
Oct 2024: DLC postponed indefinetely. OG AO3 game removed from stores. Servers shut down. All of this on its 19th anniversary btw.
Oct 2024- Jan 2025: more radio silence
Jan 2025: DLC canceled, they even admit they never even worked on such DLC to begin with. Game put on life support indefinetely. In their apology they also say " we wanted to ensure that Age III: DE players felt part of the franchise" LMAO
A Byzantine architecture set.
Wow that’s an astonishing level of mismanagment
Tomorrow is Lunar new year.
The phoenix is quite a popular animal in Asia mythology.
I want badly a Chinese campaign.
I’m probably seeing what I want to see, but it might be it.
I feel they could easily split the Chinese into separate specific factions like they did the indians, lots of history for campaigns to cover there.
Meanwhile AOE 3 DLC of Poland/Denmark was cancelled
Current Chinese are fine, it’s not splitting they need but adding of surrounding civs.
Jurchens, Tanguts & Khitans are sorely missing.
I didn’t mean to.
20 characters
2 more Italians with Mediterranean Architecture - Venetians and Genoa confirmed.
The steam application for Chronicles of Greece was added on January 24th and it released on November 14th. So there was a gap of 10 months. Perhaps the latest this DLC is released will be around the same time actually. November this year. Hopefully, it will be an actual expansion.
Genoa is already there so venice milan and florence to complete italy.
Yes, anything can be…Anyway, I don’t see them putting AoE 3 inside AoE 2… it’s not even the same engine and it would be too much work to port it so that it doesn’t feel like AoE 3 but just a simple mod of AoE 2…
Yes, although most likely they will just give them Eastern European/Slavic architecture and out they go…
Yes, the best thing we can do is give it the last rites like we did with 1 DE and move on, talking about Retold and 4 (until they kill them too)…
Yes, that’s the summary…two flags and radio silence to then just kill both games…not even Concord compares to this…
Yes, AoE 2 players have to be thankful that at least the devs are paying attention to them…the rest of the saga is just death and disappointment after disappointment…
Yes, in the absence of the Chinese campaign, I’m going to play Genghis Khan and the Rise of the Rajas campaigns (I already finished the Chinese campaign for 3 about 2 years ago and I don’t want to reinstall 3 with the depression I’m feeling)… I think I have a Zheng He campaign in the workshop, so I’ll see what happens…
Yes, don’t open the wound anymore…
Yes, although some reworked Chinese with a more focused focus on gunpowder wouldn’t be bad either…
Yey, more Italian civilians as if there weren’t enough (Romans, Ostro (Goths), the Italians themselves, Sicilians)…
Yes, in theory the new DLC would be Chronicles of Macedonia (you know, Macedonians, Seleucids, Ptolemies)…from Philip II to the end of the War of the Diadochi (356-281 BCE)…
I don’t think it will be another Cronikel DLC. It was clearly announced that there would also be classic DLC and the last classic DLC was already 2 years ago.
Therefore, there will probably be new nations again or an existing nation will be split up (as was the case with the Indians).
Two good candidates would be the Teutons (many German players and the Teutonic Empire was only a small part of Germany compared to the “Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation”) or the Chinese.
Perhaps the DLC will also revise the heavy infantry, as it is relatively weak in the game at the moment.
