I think this DLC will have both Aoe2 and Aoe1 content. Aoe2 will contents will be go back to the formula - 2new civs + 3 new campaign. And maybe 2 new civs + 2 new campaigns + rest of the remaining campaigns for ROR. Does that explain 44 achievement?
I think exactly the same, the developers should work on a better quality of life for the game, new sets of architecture for some civilizations and regional units so that there is better military diversity and a deeper immersion in the game, the reality is that the The fact that all the units are generic and repeated makes the game look less attractive the more civilizations they add, I know what I just mentioned sounds like a very radical change but if the developers want the game to return to its former glory they will have I have to think of something better than just adding new civilizations with a copy and paste and adding a new unit to the castle
I dunno. I feel like making DLC for DLC is already risky. Not to mention people whining and throwing their toys out of the pram about it on release.
Most of the updates I’d like are environmental in nature, but I’d be cool with some or that, too
I could have been a little clearer, but the “hype” in question has everything to do with the anticipation of future content created by statements like the “Christmas” bit (as well as the misleading early V&V advertising). Very little if anything to do with the value of existing content, which I agree is very high regardless. The point is not that the game is somehow rendered worthless if not constantly refreshed with X civs every Y months, but that the communication (intended to hype upcoming content) is devalued if there’s a large mismatch between the expectations set, and what is actually delivered (and when). Of course, it’s on the players to not get too attached to theories that may not be justified by the bread crumbs of information that they get, and part of what I oversimplified as “pessimism” is better expressed as tempering expectations.
In any case, I’m optimistic that there will be an interesting DLC coming soon, and we might get some real info within a couple weeks. Just my opinion. I also like a lot of the features you mentioned. I’ve been wanting new graphics/editor objects and such for years, and I think weather options would be cool (day/night lighting already exists, but I wouldn’t object to further development). But I don’t necessarily think they have to be mutually exclusive, much less adversarial to “standard” DLCs. I hope some of these features are part of the planned presents and/or clothes, but all that remains to be seen.
In before the Chinese DLC adds pandas…
Would they be a predator? Because they’re actually really lazy, even too lazy to reproduce (scientists have to show them videos of pandas mating to get them interested). It seems unlikely they would go after a person unprovoked.
Pandas have issues, but not quite the way they are portrayed.
They are perfectly survivable in the wild, and have been around for quite a long time. They just don’t seem to like to mate in zoos, nobody is quite sure why.
They do tend to be pretty placid, even in the wild. But at the end of the day, they are still a bear and can inflict lethal wounds if they felt threatened enough. But are not the type of animal to go for you if you enter its territory. So likely making it a re-colour of the Brown Bear model, and then have it act like the camel or horse gaia units.
I don’t see where I’m being pessimistic, I was saying the devs may have plans for multiple dlc going as far as 2026 by this point.
From what I heard, panda are the second main cause of injury for zookeepers. Most likely because you tend to lower your guard around them and underestimate how much they could hurt you if they wanted to.
Yaks, Tapirs, dogs, black bears, chickens, giraffes, ducks and hippos too.
It was a more general comment.
I suspect yaks will be added whenever the Tibetans are.
Yes, I posted a topic about this: Why no chickens?
I agree. I find it disappointing that zebras were added in TAK, but not giraffes. I see the two as going together very well, possibly because of two children’s books and stuffed animals I received as a kid. One was a zebra and the other a giraffe.
Ducks could be a herdable, I suppose. It might be hard to tell them apart from chickens though. Were you thinking about a shore fish replacement?
Oh, very interesting.
Yeah I expect the same. Either on their own, or as something to do with the Tibetans themselves (like something close to the Atlantean villagers).
Probably too small. Plus we have geese already, who are very similar at this graphical size.
Chickens are probably too small as well.
Yeah. They are much bigger than you, and still have very long canines (normally used to strip bamboo before eating it) and claws.
My Tibetans concept had Yaks as a trainable herdable from Mills. Maybe the devs will do something similar.
There’s a lot of different ways they can take them. Just have to wait and see until there’s images to pour over.
Day/night already exists default in game? Where can I experience?
Only in select campaign scenarios.
You can set it in the Editor as “Color Mood” under the “Map” tab. You can change it in game with triggers “Change Color Mood,” with the Quantity setting defining how gradual the transition is. There’s “Night” and a variety of “Day” color moods such as Desert, Jungle, or Autumn. At present it’s just an ambience change, but with a little creativity you could combine it with triggers to reduce Line of Sight at Night, increase farmer work rate during “Autumn,” and so forth.
Huh??? I never knew this was a thing!!
Just checked. No DLC has correlated with Red Bull Wololo dates.
Although logically they are not going to announce one that releases right before the tournament (unless that’s a sudden gimmick haha). So yeah, probably a while before, or afterwards for any announcement.
