Ah yes, because they are certainly going to ignore the anniversary for both AoE2DE and AoE2, with hidden achievements visible that have never been up longer than three months for a December 20205 release date -_-
I know it feels like longer than usual. But can we please not resort to doomer-posting just yet?
We should keep an eye out for any clues relating to the Tulou building. If the next DLC is Chinese-related, and the devs decide to add the building to the Chinese, there might be hints for it eventually. I don’t know for sure, but it’s something to keep in mind.
I’m not sure this meme means anything. A Tulou, if added, could be a generic drop-off building, but it’s hard to imagine it also having Blacksmith, Farm, and Market functionalities.
I remember, which is why I am on edge with their social media posts. But that lumbercamp one was posted 9 days before reveal. The hotkey meme has been up for nearly a month now.
Also, and I really can’t justify this, but the hotkey meme didn’t “feel” like a hint. Now the “test your civ trivia”, now that we have two of them, they “feel” like they’re hints, but again I also want to see hints. But previously we only had to wait a week or two before these hints out on social media turned into announcements, and the fact they were teasing something was pretty obvious, where as in this case it’s far less obvious.
ATM It’s like DLC flavored LaCroix posts. Hint of hint of DLC. We have two posts presently and we’re trying to figure out what the nature of a possible tease is.
I think at this point we most likely just need to wait for a possible third “test your civ trivia” post. If these are indeed hints, then I don’t think the interval would increase between the posts. The same 10 interval would put another post coming out this monday, september 23rd (tho I personally theorize the next will be published on Sunday the 22nd). If it’s tuesday or wednesday and we still don’t have another post, or it’s just a random civ that doesn’t fit into one of the current theories and doesn’t lend itself toward new alternative theories, then it was probably just timeline chaff, and we gotta wait some more for the actual tease.
Agreed. One post on its own is hard to gauge if it’s just noise. Two feels like something more concrete, but it’s not enough to tell if there is a pattern or not.
The third one (if there is one) will cement if they are trying to hint at something, or if it’s nothing and they are just trying to keep people engaged.
Also on AoE Mobile, it seems the marketing for that game is totally separate from the rest of AoE. There’s like a big social media page with tons of stuff going on all the time, yet barely anything on the main page. So likely the “different audiences” thing I mentioned before is correct.
Now I do appreciate that if they’re heads down and neck deep in a big project, but there really isn’t anything to announce, the difficult spot they can be in when people want some announcement but all you have to announce is that you don’t have anything to announce yet.
I am curious as to why the balance changes have stopped (no I’m not counting the map changes, most of those were just bug fixes). maybe it’s rbw, wanting the entire tournament played on one patch. maybe it’s aom and/or DLC 5 taking up to many resources and balance changes were temporarily stopped to allow staff to focus on the big projects. Maybe changes that will come with DLC 5 are so extensive that it doesn’t make sense to split up the changes and it’s just gonna be one big balance change. maybe it’s something else or a combination of things.
But yeah, they basically promised this year is gonna be full of stuff, released V&V to critical disappointment, then shortly thereafter go basically radio silent for months. Even if there are good reasons, it’s not a good look.
I remain cautiously hopeful that when we do finally learn what DLC 5 has to offer we will feel the wait and silence was worth it.
