The “XP” goes to a global progress, at least thats what it sounds like.
Oh, not only is this true, I can’t believe I didn’t point it out in my previous comment.
Because the Incan and Aztec empires were at their heights as late as the 16th century! Which would mean these Japanese are not pushing the timeline forward at all.
Of course, it’s to reincorporate the experience resource into AoM and for that to benefit the entire civ in general…in AoE 4 it’s the same with the Ottomans…
Of course, although in reality the Atlanteans within the AoM lore serve as mythological descendants of the Lemurians (east of Africa) and the mythological ancestors of the Mayans (before settling in the Yucatan Peninsula), since the Atlantean campaign is set 10 days after the fall of Atlantis and the end of the Trojan War, which would be between 1207 and 1184 BC, so they do not move the game’s timeline that much… then hevanly spear’s synopsis mentions the samurai and warlord kagemasa, who fought in the gosannen war (1083-1089) during the Heian period (794-1185), so it would not move the timeline too much either, except in its last ages…
Thoughts? So like a multicast of Shockwave that gets progressively stronger?
My guess is Raijin’s classical age god power. Seems like Ashura has an ability to avoid god power effects.
thats never ever a classical age GP mate - at least in my opinion.
Yes, and that’s what I don’t like at all… we’ll have to pray that the game continues receiving DLC from 2026 onwards… AoE 3 had DLC until its 2nd year, in 2022, and from there there was radio silence until the announcement and then the cancellation of the Baltic DLC in January of this year…
Yes, I’m scared, they’re kind of powerful…
I’m pretty darn confident we’ll get at least one more DLC after this. Even this upcoming DLC was sold with the base game on release. I think they won’t make a judgement to end new content until at least one DLC that is sold by itself instead of with the initial game release.
I’m excited for the DLC, but seriously, I’m really curious what unique technologies, regional units, and ways to gain favor they’ll give the Japanese.
I’d like to compare it to Age IV later, to see what elements can be transferred between games.
Of course, the walls in the Japanese trailer have their own design, and they should consider using them for Age IV as well.
Yes, I think the Japanese in AoM will be like the Japanese in AoE 4, or like those in AoE 3 but without gunpowder, being replaced those by mythical units instead…
Not sure about this one
And that nose it wild! ![]()
Yeah, that was my first thought is what is with the nose lol
Also is it just me or are a lot of the the teased myth units we’ve seen red-skinned humanoids? This one, Asura, and I feel like we saw another red-skinned humanoid myth unit too. I’m worried it’ll be a bit repetitive with that…
(EDIT) Ah yes, the Oni is the third red-skinned humanoid I was thinking of.
nice observation wouldn’t have noticed this but you’re right.
chinese myth units are all animalistic (which i overall don’t mind since it’s accurate even i personally hoped one or two are not completely animalistic)
japanese myth units seem to be many red skinned (which i also don’t mind since its accurate and it’s not the hole roster of myth units).
about the unit/shared image: i like the idea of the unit (whiched valkyries would be similar in playstyle personally) not mad about the giant nose but i personally would have liked a more “bird-corrupted” look instead of red skinned old man with a giant nose and wings. - but i guess some of the facial features are more popular like this. but i found some designs i personally like more:
The nose is historically accurate according to my research. It just caught me off guard ![]()
I’ve also noticed that a lot of the MUs are red, but again I’m assuming that is traditional. Maybe a lot of Japanese mythical creatures are red to show they are evil/ demonic? I must say, I do like that that all the Myth Units introduced in the reworked Chinese and now Japan are based on actual mythical creatures and they closely resemble their depictions. A lot of the original MUs (particularly for the Egyptians) were just made up! Not only were some made up, they also weren’t depicted appropriately. For example:
- War Turtle should have been something like a leatherback, rather than a alligator snapping, to be more likely to come from that region.
- Roc should have been an Egyptian vulture than than a generic falcon/ hawk.
- Ape of Set (luckily more appropriately named Baboon of Set now) should have been a Hamadryas baboon, instead of the hybrid creature they made between an olive baboon and a mandril.
I’d prefer they used historical creatures first before inventing something else.
i think the order of the stuff which should have been (and still could be) better, orderd by civs with the biggest issues it would be:
- Atlanteans > 2. Eggy > rest. both of these two could (and should) get some appropriate changes regarding myth units.
again there are just 3 myth units red for japanese and i think it fits well it looks demonic. but even i like the chinese myth units (except for their sound design) i think its more “strange” to see so many four-legged myth units than red skinned myth units since they still can have more or less limbs to make them more interesting.
I looked at those charts and there’s this weird spike at the beginning of March. Do you know what might have happened at the beginning of March to cause that spike?
啊,我对此非常确定。这是因为出现了中文版 DLC。
(Ah, I’m pretty sure about that. That’s because of the Chinese DLC.)
I know. People who pre-ordered decided to see what they bought.
