AOE3 add a movie in the start of the game last year.
But what does that mean?
It seems to tell us, they treat AOE series as one piece.
But the movie does not appear in AOE1\2\4.
I think it more like to tell players that, there are AOE 2 and 4, go and play them.
Because the scene does nothing about AOE3.

Wait before someone tells you this is not mistreatment and it is perfectly justified and AOE3 does not deserve to appear in its own intro movie and it is a charity that they even update the game and you are overly sensitive and ask for too much.
On a more serious note, if AOE1DE is not the very first game of the series and there are a group of potential potential potential Vietnamese customers that they want to attract to buy the new game, they would have done the same to it. Just siphon every player of the FRANCHISE to play the right game they want use to play.

But yeah, it is quite odd to me why WE would invest resources producing it only to put it in one game that is barely shown not to mention already has the OG intro cinematic. 3DE has enough intros already.
It is obnoxious and not needed. Many of us have been requesting its removal since day 1.

Also I wonder since when WE has become cringe as hell. This intro video is one evidence.
Just people wearing headsets clicking mouse with 10000apm, people cheering, people holding trophies. Boy does this have anything to do with the game? I’d say it does not even have anything to do with AOE2/4. Is this series a meta-esports simulation game, like Esports Manager or sth?
Do you see anything like this in Blizzard games (aka THE esports RTS)?

I came to think that in fact AOE-2 and 4 had it, and that AOE-3 was the last to introduce the video.
It didn’t seem bad to me, even though AOE-3 wasn’t shown in that video, but since I found out about this it seemed stupid to me.

It’s ironic that aoe3 is the only game with a glorified commercial for the other games. Well their e-sports tournaments in particular. It’s also doubly ironic that aoe3 is the only game excluded from such tournaments

The single greatest annoyance for me with this stupid intro is that no other game has it. Not AOE1, not AOE2, not AOE4. Only AOE3 has to watch this, which is only represented by a cutscene from the campaign.

I’ve started habitually mashing the esc key as I’m booting up Aoe3. Once in a great while I’ll watch the intro movie to set the mood, as it were.

For me as a modder, those cinematics are annoying because I have to continually test changes that I am making in my mods and for this I have to restart the game many times, I would like some way to prevent those cinematics from appearing.
On a side note, a video with E-Sports images would be better if they were from AOE3.

That’s what I always do, especially since it’s so loud in the beginning. But seriously though, it seems like the developers don’t really care about AOE3 any more, and are just going to let it sit there like AOM has.

I just said dirty words, which were very inappropriate. But the poster made me realize that the people at the world’s edge don’t take Age of Empires 3 seriously.
