Lauks Defenders” (Old Prussians historically did this very often)

In times of critical danger, male villagers, thanks to the player’s decisions, can get battle clubs and fight to defend the tribe (this option is not one-time). Lauks was an administrative unit of the Old Prussians. When there was a defensive war, it provided additional recruits. Option available in Town Center. Fighting Peasant Melee Attack 3. Barracks improvements affects this unit. Important limit for these armed villagers would be mechanic : after traveling too far from the city center, they trigger to return to standard villagers. They are peasant self-defense not full military unit.

Unique units :

Kāryas- Armed with a axe, having a light wooden shield, dressed in a bear skin. Nice attack skills but a little poor defense. But cheap. When stands near their buildings, this rather simply equipped but brave unit receives a +1 bonus to attack and defense.

Tribal Hunter - Fast shooting with a bow , good attack but also poor defense. Dressed in white shirt , wolf skin on the back and have woolen trousers, blond haired. Like the Immortals in the Glory of Greece expansion, this unit can be switched to melee combat. These guys are used to fighting in difficult conditions.

Sometimes they also used axes as in this picture which i found.

Kriwe - pagan sorcerer and priest (he can fighting , healing friendly units , when he is close friendly units have little bonuses to statistics). He fights with a stick called a krywule. Cannot be converted by an enemy priest (the only exception would be Kriwe from the enemy army).

Wonder : Romuve - sacred grove a place inaccessible to anyone but the elite clergy.

Unique buildings

Perkun’s Temple (pagan temple of the Prussians) - training and upgrading of the fighting priest Kriwe, you can hide and heal troops in it. The unique feature of the building is the attack bonus for neighboring military units of Old Prussia thanks to their belief in Perkun (the most important god of Old Prussians).
Cost 145 Wood , Build Time 30 seconds , Hit Points 1600 , Special Bonus : Gives nearby friendly units +2 to attack point. However, it’s not strictly a defensive structure, so soldiers can’t fire projectiles from it like they can from a fortress. It also has fewer hit points.

Beehive - a structure that is an additional source of food for the faction (Old Prussians obtained a lot of honey for their own use and trade) Cost 15 Wood , Build Time 15 , Hit Points 215

Unique Techs:

Slash-and-Burn Agriculture - Each auto-reseeded farms costs -5 wood

Campaign and main hero

, The tightening noose" Main hero - Hercus Monte

The story of Herkus Monte, who starts an uprising against the Teutonic Knights to save his people, preserve their culture and identity. The brave and courageous Herkus turns out to be a good commander and is able to win victories. However, the power of the order turns out to be stronger and stronger. In the end, Herkus is beaten and then captured and hanged. The Old Prussians become subordinate to the Teutonic Order and lose their culture in favor of rapid Germanization. A sad and melancholic campaign ended melodramatically, I think it would be interesting.

I have a large collection of sources, but I’ve kept them to a minimum to make this post more readable. I can include much more if needed.

AI slop

I had used AI to create the units and buildings graphics based on my numerous comments and suggestions. They look roughly okay i think. But they are only an addition to the rest of the content and the general idea of this forgotten pagan Baltic faction.

I don’t think there’s ever any good reason to use GenAI. “They look roughly okay” isn’t good reason, for example.

But this is just a conceptual teaser, man.

Still not a good reason.

Just draw something simple on Paint. I guarantee it’s more honorable than using AI.

I don’t have the time or talent for such things. I prefer to provide links to sources and written instructions for AI when specific graphics need to be created. I rarely do this, and only recently, but it’s fine for forum concepts like these. The idea itself and the rest of the content are AI-free.

Do you know how many civ crafters for decades before AI was the corporate dream to control us managed to do well and not be lazy slobs!!?

You dont even need art. Just make a good interesting civ ffs with good gameplay and the rest writes itself

Dude, you were necroing this post forever and I already told you that all the ideas are so basic, overlapping, and uninteresting and at the same time it has 4 unique units and 2 unique buildings

Why are you so invested in a nothing civ?!

If you have time to write a wall of text and to reply me multiple times in short succession you have time to make a shitty drawing in Paint. And you don’t need talent to draw, because talent is not a thing. Drawing is a skill you need to train.

Also, one thing I don’t understand is people acting like you personally insulted them whenever you call them out for using AI.

Let’s focus on the content and potential of the faction itself. It would be nice if more people could comment than just the two regular critics.

There are actually three unique units. The fourth, the peasant militia, is optional because it is to be used only as a last resort when defending a settlement in a critical situation.

So to quote someone elae:

all the ideas are so basic, overlapping, and uninteresting and at the same time it has 4 unique units and 2 unique buildings

For the nth time, the problem is not how you use AI, it’s using AI at all.

That’s… That’s still four.

I don’t think “[civ name] [generic term]” is a good unit name.

It’s the opinion of the three of you that these ideas and the whole concept are crap. I’d like to hear from more people than just the three extreme naysayers.

If you take any form of vaguely negative Criticism as a personal insult and refuse to listen to it, I don’t think you’re getting far.

Oh, you want to discuss the content of the civ again? After youvrefused to take any of my feedback last time and only talked about “how cool it would be to have this civ”?

This is broken, completely broken

Teutons

And thats it, ONLY ONE civ bonus. This is what you want us to take seriously?!

Everyone did this

Either way this is fine, its annoying and hard to balance, but aure, fine

Literally nothing in this description is unique

Thats the best name you have?

Warrior Priest

Just a monastery with an aura, great.

You literally dont describe anything about it beyond it beinh cheap

No they didnt. Also China is very similar

This is either absurd (villagers workimg twice as fast) or useless (villagers work 2% faster)

I can distinguish substantive criticism from hate and nitpicking about every message or idea I post or post by the same people.

Your ideas lack substance for you to constantly necro them or for us to tackle every time you change a minute detail

You have ONE civ bonus, two useless unique units and two useless unique buildings and everything is explained very vaguely

While we’re at it, “Old Prussians” aren’t a good civ name. What are you differentiating them from, the current country of Prussia?
