Old Prussians Faction Concept V2

Prussians is used for both a german regional identity and the baltic native group

Old Prussian were’s Baltic Pagan nation before conquest by german Teutonic Order. Later they both mixed together as Prussians. Understood?

Still weird to include ā€œOldā€ in the civ name, but alright I guess.

This is historical name. There’s also original name - Prusakai.

I apologize if I was aggressive. I’ll think about some ideas for faction bonuses and new mechanics. I also have books about this faction, and maybe I’ll find additional inspiration there.

I think that might be a better name, even if less recognizable

I’ve added new faction bonuses and tweaked the overall balance a bit. I’ll refine this concept further in the future. I’ll try to create a mod featuring this faction someday.

Btw I don’t think they need a unique temple, just give them a fortified church or a bonus that lets them garrison on the regular monastery.

They were Pagans with own baltic gods. Until their conquest and extermination by the Teutonic Knights, they rejected all attempts at christianization.

I hope you realize there are 53 civs by now (counting Tupi, Mapuche and Muisca) and around half of them were never Christian. ā€œThey didn’t christianizeā€ is far from enough reason for a unique building.

But they had their own pantheon of gods, which they never renounced until they ceased to exist. Moreover, the Temple was crucial to them not only religiously but also as a key element of their identity and culture, alongside the Sacred Grove. Kriwe played a crucial role in the life having in society, apart from the worship of pagan gods, also the role of judges, healers and sometimes even warriors. This pagan tribe were the fourth Baltic people, alongside the Lithuanians, Latvians, and Estonians but unlike them, it was conquered and forgotten. Although the name of the land, Prussia, remained, and the descendants of the Teutonic Knights, the Prussians, under the leadership of the Hohenzollern family, took their name from it.

Why does this response feel too formal/LLM generated to feel genuine!?

Because I use a translator. English is not my native language.

The Monastery doesn’t exclusively represent Christian churches. That can’t be that hard to understand.

And everyone back then had a religion, Pagan Prussians really don’t deserve preferential treatment. This isn’t a game about religion.

This was also related to the mechanics where near the Temples and the Wonder of the Prussians, the enemies attacking them had a lower attack (lower morale when fighting the mysterious wild pagans in their territory).

Another thing that doesn’t need a unique building to work. Just accept defeat already.

And why would that affect the wonder as well?

This whole thread is basically someone defending AI and their stubborness in accepting that those civs should be developed with head instead of machines.

He claims (claims) he only used AI for the images (which is more than 0 AI usage, so is still bad in my book), but is really obsessed with this one civ geting a unique building for stuff that could be made through civ bonuses.

Less is better.

At least I got him to change the uninspired name ā€œOld Prussiansā€. Probably ā€œPrussiansā€ would be fine as well but if we were to get the civ, Prusakai is definitely the better name.
