Old Prussians Faction Concept V2

There You have ,Prussians" or , German Prussians"

They were descendants of the Teutonic Knights and the remnants of the Old Prussians, who were germanized. In time, they entered into a union with Brandenburg and conquered some new territories at the expense of Austria by Frederic The Great by Silesian Wars and take part of Poland with Austria and Russia later. Therefore, the name Prussians today refers more to them, while the Old Prussians were those Baltic pagans who were conquered and germanized.

I don’t think latter Prussians would get a standalone civ anyway, not in AoE2’s period at least.

Man i just explain You differences between Prussians and Old Prussians AKA Prusakai. Later german Prussians under the leadership of Hohenzollern dynasty is AOE 3 DE period.

It’s strange to see this labelled as “Concept V2”, because apart from the AI images, this looks pretty much identical to the original version.

If I was designing a pagan forest people civ, I’d want something like the following:

  • A wood and/or forage bonus, e.g. trees and/or forage bushes last longer. (A hunting bonus would be ok instead, I guess.)
  • A bonus to trash units, preferably emphasising quantity over quality, e.g. spearmen and skirmishers cost less food, with a unique tech to make them train faster and/or take less pop space.
  • No champion, cavalier, heavy cavalry archer or arbalest.
  • Full-ish monastery tech tree, maybe some monastery techs affect other units.

I’m not sure if any of the above is taken already by another civ, and they’d clearly need more than what I’ve written, but those are some ideas that popped into my head.

All the millions of human artists you stole from in the process of generating those images thank you for the part you played in the destruction of our culture. /s

I only created conceptual and overview images for 4 units and 3 buildings based on my comments, suggestions, and research. Is this a crime? Just small addition to full concept to better understood my own vision. I have books about this faction but I won’t draw them.

By the way i added new bonuses and change some things according to suggestions. So this is not the same concept as first thread.

AI slop and weird design aside, is “Prusakai” even a word? I have never heard it before, and the main google results are posts in this forum. Even the wikipedia article on the old prussians doesn’t use the word anywhere. Considering that these people didn’t seem to have a joint cultural identity, I doubt its an endonym either.

Read the scholarly sources I included in my first post. There’s more on the internet, and there are also interesting books about that. The Prussians, like the Gauls in ancient times, were divided into tribes. They united to defend themselves against attackers and to plunder other nations. And since the Old prussian language and people are extinct and at the same time most people associate the word ,Prussians" with the later owners of this area, relatively few people know about this pagan, forgotten baltic people.

You can even see Prusai / Prusakai as the title of a scholarly book about this tribe.

your first post contains 5 links to wikipedia? those are not scholarly sources. I even looked at your other posts ont he subject, none of those provide a source that uses the word “Prusakai”. As far as I can tell you made that word up.

Prusai, yes (still not an english word). Prusakai, no.

In english they called ,Old Prussians". Other words are non-english but it comes from fact that this tribe is extinct and forgotten.

Teutonic knight genoese xbow is exactly that. Can add swiss pikeman ballaric slingers numidian cavalry to the list.

Would be very broken.

Dont really understand this one,how would you define a base?is it tc or any building.

Aztects and berber.

Version of saracen bonus if Im not mistaken.

This is fine.If they work faster its just japanese bonus.

Not a bad idea.

Elite berserker skin.

Not bad even tho its bland.

Version of warrior monk.

Nothing wrong with this since we have a waterfall as a wonder now.

This is basically a castle.

This is generic tech.

Faster collecting is also generic which could be op or useless.

Ita a decent start but the civi has way too many unique stuff and variations of things already ingame.would be a good idea to tone down it to one or two unique units and one unique building.

I’ll consider what you mentioned in the post above. Thank you for the constructive feedback :+1:

According to Google translate, it is a Latvian word for cockroach. I think the OP intends it as a plural of the Polish Prusak – which does mean Prussian, but also means cockroach and can be used as a derogatory term for a German. The actual plural seems to be Prusai. Disclaimer: I don’t know any Latvian or Polish, and I am only going on what I can find online.

The difference here is that those terms have well-established meanings and are used outside of the game.

I know but its the same naming convention. We have composit bowman as a UU so having someone named xyz hunter is not that bad.

Kriwe Lauks Karyas all seem like ok names for UUs.

My take on this civi bonuses

Faith devotion free

Barracks techs affect villagers

Hunters dont need drop off

Skirmisher upgrade free

TB monasteries have addional los

UU Lauks same as immortal can switch mods

Ut1 spearman scouts skirmishers cost less

Ut2 houses generate small trickle of gold

I made some changes in main concept of Civ according to Your ideas and create my own.

,Fighters to death Dlc" idea for 2028

Including :

  • Old Prussian Civ + own campaign about Herkus Monte and Prussian Uprisings
  • Teutonic Order Civ + own campaign about conquer Prussia and later lands of today Lativia and Estonia ( Teutons should be named Holy Roman Empire as separated faction). Campaign hero be could Grand Master of the Order - Winrich von Kniprode.
  • Slavs reworked to Kievan Rus ( as free update too) + own paid campaign about Yaroslav the Wise.

Moscow and Novogorod could also come someday in some Dlc.

Okay dude put down the pipe

You are extremely arrogant to other people and pathetic in general. Besides, the Teutonic Order is a centuries-old existed (1190-1525), unique faction having its own military style with unique units, with own system of managing state structures and the state economy ,conquering other nations and fighting numerous wars far from the rest of Germany. It fits this game in every way.

the teutonic order does not fit the game. it’s a political institution, not a civilization. At most “The State of the Teutonic Order” could be considered as a faction. However this state was only around for about 200 years. We can start adding short lived european states like this to the game once about 200 other, more important, medieval factions have been added
